Ռուսական Wagner մասնավոր ռազմական ընկերության սեփականատեր Եվգենի Պրիգոժինի սպանությունը կազմակերպել է ՌԴ նախագահի մտերիմ, ԱԴԾ նախկին տնօրեն և ՌԴ Անվտանգության խորհրդի ղեկավար Նիկոլայ Պատրուշևը։ Այս մասին դեկտեմբերի 22-ին հայտնել է The Wall Street Journal-ը։

Պատրուշևը վաղուց զգուշացրել է Պուտինին, որ Մոսկվայի կախվածությունը Wagner-ից Ուկրաինայում Պրիգոժինին չափազանց մեծ քաղաքական և ռազմական ազդեցություն է տալիս, ինչը գնալով սպառնում է Կրեմլին:
 
Երբ հունիսի վերջին սա վերածվեց բացահայտ ապստամբության ռուսական ռազմական հրամանատարության դեմ, Պատրուշևը միջամտեց։ Այս անգամ նա հնարավորություն տեսավ ընդմիշտ «վերացնելու» Պրիգոժինին, հաղորդում է WSJ-ը։
 
Օգոստոսի սկզբին Պատրուշևը Մոսկվայի կենտրոնում գտնվող իր գրասենյակում հրամայեց իր օգնականին սկսել Պրիգոժինի վերացման գործողության նախապատրաստությունը։ Ավելի ուշ Պուտինին ցույց են տվել ծրագրերը, և նա չի առարկել։
 
Մի քանի շաբաթ անց, Աֆրիկա կատարած շրջագայությունից հետո, Պրիգոժինը սպասում էր Մոսկվայի օդանավակայանում, մինչ անվտանգության տեսուչները ստուգում էին ինքնաթիռը: Ըստ հետախուզության աշխատակիցների՝ հենց այս ուշացման ժամանակ էլ թևի տակ փոքրիկ ռումբ է տեղադրվել։

Թռիչքից կես ժամ անց՝ մոտավորապես 8500 մետր բարձրության վրա, ռումբը պայթել է։ ԴՆԹ թեստերը հաստատել են Պրիգոժինի մահը վթարի հետևանքով։ Նրա հետ միասին մահացել է ևս ինը մարդ, այդ թվում՝ հրամանատար Դմիտրի Ուտկինը, Վագների մեկ այլ ընկեր, երկու օդաչու և բորտուղեկցորդուհին։
