 Նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանին հունվարի 15-ին իր հավատարմագրերն է հանձնել Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունում Եգիպտոսի Արաբական Հանրապետության նորանշանակ արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Թարեք Իբրահիմ Մուհամմադ Մաաթին: Ինչպես «Արմենպրես»-ին տեղեկացրին ՀՀ Նախագահի աշխատակազմի հասարակայնության և տեղեկատվության միջոցների հետ կապերի վարչությունից, Նախագահը շնորհավորել է դեսպանին դիվանագիտական առաքելությունը մ եր երկրում սկսելու կապակցությամբ և հույս հայտնել, որ պաշտոնավարման ընթացքում նա իր փորձն ու գիտելիքները կներդնի ի նպաստ երկու բարեկամ երկրների հարաբերությունների առավել ամրապնդման ու զարգացման:

Սերժ Սարգսյանը գոհունակությամբ է նշել, որ վերջին տարիներին հայ-եգիպտական հարաբերությունները թևակոխել են զարգացման նոր փուլ և ընդգծել, որ երկու երկրների միջև առկա համագործակցության մեծ ներուժն անհրաժեշտ է լիարժեքորեն օգտագործել, ինչին կարող են զգալիորեն նպաստել բարձրաստիճան փոխայցերը, քաղաքական ակտիվ երկխոսությունը, միջկառավարական և միջխորհրդարանական ձևաչափերով հաճախակի շփումներն ու փոխգործակցությունը:

Դեսպան Թարեք Մաաթին վստահեցրել է, որ կանի ամեն հնարավորը միջպետական կապերն առավել սերտացնելու և փոխադարձ հետաքրքրություն ներկայացնող բոլոր ոլորտներում համագործակցությունը զարգացնելու համար: Նա նշել է, որ հայ գործընկերների հետ արդեն իսկ քննարկումներ է ունեցել հայ-եգիպտական միջկառավարական հանձնաժողովի գործունեությունը ընթացիկ տարում վերսկսելու հնարավորության շուրջ և հույս ունի, որ հանձնաժողովի աշխատանքի արդյունքում զգալիորեն կակտիվանան առևտրատնտեսական կապերը:

Դեսպանը համակարծիք է եղել ՀՀ Նախագահի հետ՝ օրենսդիր մարմինների միջև ևս կապերը սերտացնելու, երկու երկրների խորհրդարաններում բարեկամության խմբեր հիմնելու առաջարկի հարցում:
