4pda.to-ն գրում է, որ Նորվեգական Photoncycle ստարտափը հայտնել է, որ իր նոր մշակումը թույլ է տալիս ամռանը և ձմռանը արևային էներգիան ավելի էժան պահել, քան ավանդական մարտկոցներով: Դա անելու համար նա առաջարկել է հիմնվել պինդ վիճակում ջրածնի օգտագործման վրա։
Արեգակնային էներգիայի հիմնական թերությունը նրա ընդհատվող բնույթն է, հետևաբար անհրաժեշտ է մշակել արդյունավետ պահեստավորման լուծումներ, երբ արևը չի շողում: Այդ խնդրի հաղթահարման լուծումները հիմնականում ներառում են էներգիայի մատակարարման հավասարեցում, որն է ցերեկային ժամերին էներգիա կուտակելը գիշերը կամ պիկ ժամերին հետագայում օգտագործելու համար: Photoncycle-ը ձեռնամուխ է եղել էներգիան կայուն պահելու բավականին խելահեղ նախագծի այնպիսի տեխնոլոգիայի շնորհիվ, որը կարող է կուտակել ամռանը ստացված ավելորդ էներգիան ձմռանը օգտագործելու համար:
Նարարարական լուծումը հիմնված է հատուկ պինդ ջրածին պարունակող պահեստարանի օգտագործման վրա: Դրա հզորությունը շատ ավելի բարձր է, քան լիթիումային մարտկոցինը, իսկ խտությունը մինչև քսան անգամ ավել է, քան հեղուկ ջրածնի պահեստարաններում։ Դա, հետևաբար, թույլ կտա էներգիայի ավելի արդյունավետ պահեստավորում, որը կտևի ավելի երկար և ավելի քիչ վտանգավոր, քան ջրածնային գազ օգտագործող լուծումներն են: Photoncycle-ի նպատակն է տեղադրել իր պահեստարանները բնակելի շենքերի մոտ: Դրանք թույլ կտան էներգիա կուտակել արևային մարտկոցներին ուղղակի միանալու միջոցով: Երբ էլեկտրաէներգիան վերածվում է ջրածնի, գործընթացը ներառում է ջերմության արտանետում, և դա կօգտագործվի նաև տների ջեռուցումն ապահովելու համար:
