«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Երևան քաղաքի ընդհանուր իրավասության դատարանում, դատավոր Մնացական Մարտիրոսյանի նախագահությամբ, երեկ շարունակվեց հասարակական, քաղաքական գործիչ Ավետիք Չալաբյանի գործով դատական նիստը: Ենթադրվում էր, որ երեկ պետք է կայանար եզրափակիչ նիստը, որի ընթացքում կքննարկվեին պատժի հարցերը: Ի վերջո, դատարանը դեկտեմբերի 5-ին մեղադրական վերդիկտ էր կայացրել: Սակայն այն բանից հետո, երբ Ավետիք Չալաբյանի պաշտպանները դատարանին ներկայացրեցին պատիժը մեղմացնող հանգամանքների վերաբերյալ փաստաթղթերը, հանրային մեղադրողը անակնկալ կերպով խնդրեց նիստը հետաձգել՝ պատճառաբանելով, թե պատժաչափի և խափանման միջոցի իր առաջարկի համար անհրաժեշտություն ունի մեղմացնող հանգամանքները ձևակերպող փաստաթղթերն ուսումնասիրել:

«Փաստ» թերթի տեղեկություններով, դատախազի այս քայլն իրականում կապված է այն հանգամանքի հետ, որ դատախազությունը ցանկանում է նախ՝ նորից փոխել Ավետիք Չալաբյանի խափանման միջոցը և նրան վերստին կալանավորել, ապա և այնպիսի վճիռ ստանալ դատարանում, որը թույլ կտա Ավետիք Չալաբյանին հնարավորինս երկար պահել անազատության մեջ: Սակայն, քանի որ ի սկզբանե գործը շատ թույլ է, ապացույցներն անբավարար են, մյուս կողմից՝ գործի ընթացքում Քրեական օրենսգիրք է փոխվել, որի արդյունքում տեղի է ունեցել Չալաբյանին մեղսագրվող արարքի մասնակի ապաքրեականացում, և այն հոդվածը, որով ի սկզբանե հարուցվել էր գործը, վերացվել է, իսկ առկա հոդվածը չի համապատասխանում:

Ըստ այդմ, դատախազությունը խնդիր ունի՝ հասկանալու, թե ինչպես պետք է ձևակերպեն պատժի պահանջը, որ կարողանան Չալաբյանին ազատությունից զրկել: Մեր աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ, հասկանալով, որ ոչինչ հնարավոր չէ անել օրենքի և օրինականության սահմաններում, դատախազությունը հայտնվել է «ցայտնոտի» մեջ, դրա համար էլ երեկ դատը հետաձգելու միջնորդություն ներկայացվեց: Հավելենք, որ երեկ Ավետիք Չալաբյանն ասաց, որ քանզի դատարանը դեկտեմբերի 5-ին մեղադրական վերդիկտ է տվել, անկախ նրանից, թե ինչ պատժամիջոց կորոշի, իրենք բոլոր դեպքերում դա բողոքարկելու են։ «Շարունակում ենք պնդել՝ որևէ մեղադրական դատավճիռ մենք չենք ընդունելու»,- ասաց Չալաբյանը։
