Հնագետները պարզել են, որ Եվրոպայում նեանդերթալցիներն ակտիվորեն որսացել են փղեր

Գուտենբերգի համալսարանի և Լայբնիցի հնագիտության կենտրոնի մի խումբ գերմանացի հնագետներ Նիդերլանդների գործընկերների հետ միասին գտել են մոտ 125 հազար տարի առաջ նեանդերթալցիների շրջանում ուղիղ ժանիքավոր անտառային փղերի (Palaeoloxodon antiquus) համատարած որսի ապացույցներ: Այս մասին վկայում են գերմանական Սաքսոնիա-Անհալթ և Թյուրինգիա շրջանների գտածոները: Հետազոտությունը հրապարակվել է Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) գիտական ամսագրում:
Ուղիղ ժանիքավոր փղերը ապրել են Եվրոպայում և Արևմտյան Ասիայում 781 հազարից մինչև 30 հազար տարի առաջ: Փղերի հասակը հասնում էր չորս մետրի, իսկ քաշը՝ 13 տոննայի, ինչը նրանց դարձրել է իրենց ժամանակի ամենամեծ ցամաքային կենդանիները՝ գերազանցելով մամոնտներին։
Գիտնականներին հաջողվել է հայտնաբերել նեանդերթալյան քարե գործիքների թողած հետքերը փղերի ոսկորների վրա։ Նշումները ցույց են տվել, որ կենդանիներին որսացել և սպանել են։
«Վերջին ոսկորների ուսումնասիրության արդյունքներն այժմ ցույց են տալիս, որ նեանդերթալցիների կողմից այս փղերի որսը մեկանգամյա իրադարձություն չէր, այլ քիչ թե շատ շարունակական գործունեություն», – ասում է հետազոտության համահեղինակ, պրոֆեսոր Սաբինա Գաուդզինսկի-Վինդհաուզերը:
Գիտնականները հաշվարկել են, որ մեկ չափահաս փիղը բավարար էր առնվազն 2,5 հազար չափահաս նեանդերթալցիների մեկ օրվա սնունդ ապահովելու համար։
Ըստ հնագետների՝ այնպիսի մեծ ու արժեքավոր կենդանու որսալու համար, ինչպիսին ուղիղ ժանիքավոր փիղն է, նեանդերթալցիները պետք է հավաքվեին մեծ խմբերով։
Նախկինում հնագետները պարզել էին, որ նեանդերթալցիները որսում էին Եվրասիայի ամենասարսափելի գիշատիչներին՝ քարանձավային առյուծներին:
