Հռոմի Պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսն առաջարկել է ռազմական արդյունաբերության մեջ ներգրավված միջոցներն ուղղել սովի դեմ պայքարի միջազգային հիմնադրամի ստեղծմանը, և դրանք ծախսել կայուն զարգացման ապահովման համար:
Այս մասին ասված է պոնտիֆիկոսի ելույթում, որը պատրաստվել էր կլիմայի փոփոխության մասին ՄԱԿ-ի շրջանակային կոնվենցիայի Կողմերի համաժողովում:
Առողջական վիճակի պատճառով Հռոմի Պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսը չի կարողացել ներկա գտնվել կոնֆերանսին: Նրա ելույթը հնչեցրել է Վատիկանի պետական քարտուղար կարդինալ Պիետրո Պարոլինը, որը գլխավորել է Սուրբ Աթոռի պատվիրակությունը:
«Որքան էներգիա է ծախսում մարդկությունը այսքան պատերազմներում, որոնք բռնկվել են ամբողջ աշխարհում՝ Իսրայելում և Պաղեստինում, Ուկրաինայում և շատ այլ վայրերում։ Հակամարտությունները չեն լուծում խնդիրները, բայց հանգեցնում են դրանց ավելացման:
Որքան ռեսուրսներ են ծախսվում սպառազինությունների վրա, որոնք քանդում են մեր ընդհանուր տունը։ Առաջարկում եմ ռազմական նպատակներով ծախսվող գումարներով ստեղծել սովի վերացման միջազգային հիմնադրամ և կլիմայի փոփոխությամբ տառապող աղքատ երկրներում՝ կայուն զարգացման նախագծեր»,- ելույթի տեքստն է մեջբերում ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
