Նոյեմբերի 22-ի առավոտյան ոստիկանության օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն զանգած կինը հայտնել էր, որ Էջմիածնի Արագածի զանգվածի իր բնակարանից գողություն է կատարվել: Հաղորդումը փոխանցվեց ոստիկանության Վաղարշապատի բաժին, որտեղից օպերատիվ խումբը մեկնեց դեպքի վայր: Հայտնել է ՀՀ ոստիկանությունը։
Ըստ 84-ամյա տուժած տանտիրուհու` գողությունը պետք է կատարված լիներ վերջին երկու օրվա ընթացքում: Տանտիրուհին ցույց տվեց գիրքը, որի մեջ դրված էր 5000 դոլարը, իսկական դոլարները, որոնք փոխարինվել էին նույն արժեքի հուշանվեր-թղթադրամներով:
Տանտիրուհուց ընդունվեց հաղորդում: Իրավապահները, սակայն, արտաքին զննությամբ գողության հետք չգտան: Իսկ հանգամանքները հուշում էին, որ հափշտակությունը ծանոթ մարդու գործ է:
Վարկածը ստուգելու համար իրավապահները կրկին զրուցեցին տանտիրուհու հետ ու պարզեցին, թե այդ ընթացքում ով է նրան հյուր եկել:
Ոստիկանության Վաղարշապատի բաժնի ծառայողների ձեռնարկած օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումների շնորհիվ պարզվեց, որ հափշտակությունը կատարել է էջմիածինցի 42-ամյա մի կին, որը տուժածի ազգականն է: Նույն օրը նա հայտնաբերվեց, ձերբակալվեց և տեղափոխվեց բաժին: Անձնական խուզարկությամբ նրա մոտ հայտնաբերվեց գողոնի մի մասը՝ 200 դոլար: Բացատրական աշխատանքի արդյունքում նա խոստովանեց, որ գողոնի մյուս մասը՝ 4800 դոլարը, իր տանն է, պատրաստ է ներկայացնելու:
