Հայաստանը ստորագրել է Միջազգային արևային դաշինքի հիմնադրման մասին Շրջանակային համաձայնագիրը։ Հայաստանի կողմից համաձայնագիրը ստորագրել է փոխարտգործնախարար Մնացական Սաֆարյանը, իսկ արարողությանը ներկա են գտնվել տարածքային կառավարման և ենթակառուցվածքների նախարարը, երկու երկրների՝ Ֆրանսիայի և Հնդկաստանի դեսպանները։

Միջազգային արևային դաշինքին Հայաստանի միանալը կարևոր քայլ է կլիմայի փոփոխության դեմ պայքարի, վերականգնվող և կանաչ էներգետիկ ռեսուրսների զարգացման, էներգիայի հասանելիության և էներգետիկ անվտանգության ապահովման ուղղությամբ:

Միջազգային արևային դաշինքը հիմնադրվել է Հնդկաստանի և Ֆրանսիայի համատեղ ջանքերի շնորհիվ՝ կլիմայի փոփոխության դեմ աշխատանքները մեկտեղելու, արևային էներգիայի ռեսուրսները լայնորեն կիրառելու նպատակով: Դաշինքի հայեցակարգը մշակվել է 2015 թ. Փարիզում կայացած Կլիմայի փոփոխության մասին ՄԱԿ-ի շրջանակային կոնվենցիայի 21-րդ համաժողովի (COP21) շրջանակներում: 2020 թ. Դաշինքը փոփոխություններ է կատարել Շրջանակային համաձայնագրի մեջ, որի համաձայն ՄԱԿ-ի բոլոր անդամ երկրները հնարավորություն ունեն միանալու Դաշինքին: Ներկայումս Շրջանակային համաձայնագիրը ստորագրել են 116 պետություն, որոնցից 94-ը ներկայացրել են վավերացման անհրաժեշտ փաստաթղթերը՝ դաշինքի լիիրավ անդամ դառնալու համար։ Դաշինքի կենտրոնակայանը գտնվում է Հնդկաստանում, որտեղ արևային էներգիայի զարգացումը բավականին մեծ տեմպերով է իրականացվում։ Վերականգնվող էներգետիկան, ըստ Հայաստանի իշխանությունների, հանդիսանում է Հայաստանի էներգետիկ համակարգի զարգացման կարևորագույն ուղղություններից մեկը. վերջին տարիներին մեծ զարգացում է ապրել։

Այսօրվա տվյալներով արտադրված էլեկտրաէներգիայի կառուցվածքում արևային կայաններից արտադրվում է ընդհանուր էլեկտրաէներգիայի ավելի քան 5 %. Էներգետիկայի զարգացման ռազմավարական ծրագրով նախատեսվում է 2030 թ. արևային էներգիայի մասնաբաժինը հասցնել ընդհանուրի մեջ 15 %-ի:

Հայաստանն արևային վահանակներ արտադրող մեկ ընկերություն ունի՝ «Սոլարոնը»։
