Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսը կիրակի Վատիկանում ճաշի է հյուրընկալել մի խումբ տրանսգենդեր կանանց՝ ձգտելով Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցին ավելի ընդգրկուն դարձնել տրանսգենդեր համայնքի համար:

Ինչպես գրում է Daily Mail-ը, տրանսգենդեր կանանց փոքր խումբը՝ Հռոմի հարավում գտնվող Տորվայանիկա քաղաքից, Հռոմի պապի կողմից կազմակերպված ճաշին  մասնակցել է  Աղքատների համաշխարհային օրվա կապակցությամբ: Վատիկանում նրանց հյուրընկալել են մոտ 1200 աղքատ և անօթևան մարդկանց հետ միասին:

«Սա ֆանտաստիկ հնարավորություն է մեզ՝ տրանսսեքսուալներիս համար», - ասել է 55-ամյա Կլաուդիա Վիկտորիա Սալասը, որը ծագումով Արգենտինայից տրանսգենդեր դերձակ և հավաքարար է:

«Մենք՝ տրանսգենդերներս, այստեղ՝ Իտալիայում, մեզ մի քիչ ավելի շատ ենք մարդ զգում, քանի որ Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսը մեզ ավելի է մոտեցնում եկեղեցուն: Դա գեղեցիկ բան է, որովհետև մենք սիրո կարիք ունենք», - ասել է սեքս-աշխատող 46-ամյա Կարլա Սեգովիան:

2013 թվականին Հռոմի պապ դառնալուց ի վեր, Ֆրանցիսկոսը ձգտում է Կաթոլիկ եկեղեցին տանել ավելի ընդգրկուն ուղղությամբ: Հունվարին պոնտիֆիկոսը կաթոլիկ եպիսկոպոսներին կոչ է արել ողջունել ԼԳԲՏՔ+ մարդկանց և քննադատել է միասեռականությունը քրեականացնող օրենքները։
