Վաշինգտոնը վերահաստատում է՝ շարունակում է աջակցել Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև խաղաղ բանակցություններին։ Այս մասին ամենօրյա ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ հայտարարել է ԱՄՆ պետդեպարտամենի խոսնակ Մեթյու Միլլերն՝ արձագանքելով Բաքվի երեկվա հայտարարությանը, թե հրաժարվում է Վաշինգտոնում արտգործնախարարների մակարդակով հայ-ադրբեջանական հանդիպումից։
«Մենք շարունակում ենք աջակցել խաղաղ բանակցություններին՝ Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև առկա խնդիրները լուծելու համար։ Մենք խրախուսում են կողմերին ներգրավվել այդ բանակցություններում, անկախ նրանից՝ դրանք կլինեն այստեղ, թե մեկ այլ տեղ, և դա շարունակելու է մնալ մեր քաղաքականությունը», - ասել է Միլլերը։
Հիշեցնենք, որ ավելի վաղ Ադրբեջանի ԱԳՆ-ն հայտնել է, որ Բաքուն հրաժարվել է Վաշինգտոնում Ադրբեջանի և Հայաստանի արտգործնախարարների հանդիպումից։ Որպես հրաժարման պատճառ նշվում է «ԱՄՆ-ի միակողմանի մոտեցումը», ինչը, ըստ Բաքվի, կարող է պատճառ դառնալ, որ Միացյալ Նահանգները կորցնի միջնորդի իր դերը:
