Իսլանդիայում իրավիճակը շարունակում է անկանխատեսելի մնալ:
Ռեյկյանես թերակղզով է անցնում հյուսիսամերիկյան և եվրասիական տեկտոնական թիթեղների սահմանը, սակայն մինչ վերջերս տեղի բնակիչներին դա քիչ էր մտահոգում։ Խոսքը ժվար արտասանվող Fagradalsfjall հրաբխի մասին է, որը թարգմանաբար նշանակում է «գեղեցիկ լեռնային հովիտ»: Այն լռում էր ավելի քան ութ դար և հանկարծ 2021 թվականին պարզվեց, որ շատ ակտիվ է։ Այդ ժամանակից ի վեր սեյսմիկ ակտիվությունը թերակղզում չի նվազել:
Հրաբխին մոտ գտնվող Գրինդավիկ ձկնորսական փոքրիկ քաղաքում ապրում է մոտ 2800 մարդ։ Անցյալ շաբաթ օրը՝ նոյեմբերի 11-ին, այնտեղ զանգվածային տարհանում է իրականացվել: Իսկ հաջորդ օրը հայտնեցին, որ քաղաքի հենց մեջտեղում խառնարան է գոյացել։ Հրապարակված տվյալների համաձայն՝ այդ գոտում կա դպրոց և առնվազն մի քանի բնակելի շենք։
Ռեյկյանեսում ստորգետնյա ցնցումները սկսվել են հոկտեմբերի 25-ին, ամենաուժեղը եղել է 4,5 և 3,9 բալ ուժգնությունը։ Այժմ հրաբխագետները մտավախություն ունեն, որ մագման կպայթի հենց քաղաքի մեջտեղում։ Ըստ գիտնականների՝ դրա տակ մոտ 15 կիլոմետրանոց մագմա թունել է գոյացել։
Ըստ վերջին տվյալների՝ ցնցումները շարունակվում են, գիշերվա ընթացքում դրանք մոտ 800-ն են եղել: Գիտնականներն ասում են, որ ժամանակն այս դեպքում մարդկանց կողմն է. որքան երկար սպասվող ժայթքումը տեղի չունենա, այնքան ավելի քիչ հավանական է դառնում: Հույս կա, որ մագման այնքան էներգիա չի ունենա մակերեսին հասնելու համար: Սակայն իրավիճակը դեռ շատ վտանգավոր է համարվում։ Տեղի բնակիչներին թույլ են տվել վերադառնալ լքված տներ՝ առաջին անհրաժեշտության իրերը վերցնելու համար, սակայն նրանց հորդորել են կրկին անմիջապես հեռանալ Գրինդավիկից:
