Հոկտեմբերի 4-ին Վատիկանում մեկնարկել է Եպիսկոպոսների սինոդի 16-րդ ընդհանուր վեհաժողովի առաջին նիստը, որը ավարտվելու է հոկտեմբերի 29-ին, իսկ երկրորդ նիստը տեղի է ունենալու 2024 թվականին, հայտնում են լրատվամիջոցները։
Այս տարի առաջին անգամ վեհաժողովին մասնակցում են ոչ միայն եպիսկոպոսներ, այլ նաև աշխարհիկ մարդիկ՝ տղամարդիկ և կանայք: Այս վեհաժողովի երեք առաջնահերթ թեմաներն են՝ «Հաղորդություն, Մասնակցություն և Առաքելություն»:
Եպիսկոպոսների սինոդին Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսի կողմից մասնակցում է Գերաշնորհ Տ. Խաժակ արքեպիսկոպոս Պարսամյանը:
Հոկտեմբերի 15-ին Վատիկանի Ս. Պետրոս հրապարակում «Հրեշտակ Տեառն» աղոթքի ավարտին Ֆրանցիսկոս Պապը հայտնել է իր մտահոգությունը Արցախի մասին. «Ես դեռ մտահոգված եմ Արցախում տիրող ճգնաժամի պատճառով: Բացի տեղահանված բնակչության վիճակից, որը լուրջ է, ես ցանկանում եմ հատուկ կոչ ուղղել՝ ի նպաստ տարածաշրջանի վանքերի և աղոթատեղիների պաշտպանության: Հուսով եմ, որ բոլոր բնակիչները՝ իշխանություններից սկսած, դրանք կհարգեն և կպաշտպանեն՝ որպես մշակույթի և տեղական մշակույթի մի մաս, հավատքի արտահայտություն և եղբայրության նշան, ինչը հնարավոր է դարձնում տարբերությունների մեջ միասին ապրելը»:
Եպիսկոպոսների սինոդի 16-րդ ընդհանուր վեհաժողովի մասնակիցները նամակ են ուղղել քրիստոնյա աշխարհին շնորհակալություն հայտնելով նման փորձառության համար և մանրամասներ ներկայացրել վերջին շաբաթների աշխատանքներից. «Իր խորաթափանցության մեջ առաջադիմելու համար Եկեղեցին պետք է լսի բոլորին անխտիր՝ սկսած ամենաաղքատներից: Սա նշանակում է, որ պետք է լսել այն մարդկանց, ովքեր հասարակության մեջ զրկված են խոսելու իրավունքից կամ ովքեր իրենց մեկուսացված են զգում նույնիսկ Եկեղեցու կողմից»:
