Ավստրիական բազմաթիվ ընտանիքների համար էներգոխնայողությունն անհրաժեշտություն է դարձել։ Էներգետիկ ճգնաժամի պատճառով բազմաթիվ ավստրիացիներ ֆոտոէլեկտրական համակարգեր են տեղադրել, որոնք զգալիորեն նվազեցնում են ծախսերը, սակայն այդ թանկարժեք սարքավորումներն իրենց կարող են թույլ տալ ոչ բոլորը, հատկապես ցածր եկամուտներ ունեցող ընտանիքները։ Բարձր գները հանգեցրել են նրան, որ բազմաթիվ ընտանիքներ Ավստրիայում օգնության կարիք ունեն, ուստի և այժմ ավստրիական իշխանությունները նոր մեթոդ են մշակել , թե ինչպես օգնեն խոցելի խավերին՝ նրանց էլեկտրաէներգիա նվիրելով։

Հավելուրդային էներգիայի անվճար փոխանցման նախագիծն իրականացվում է Վիեննայում և Բուգենլան և Կարինթիա երկրամասերում։ Մասնավոր գեներացվող համակարգերից ստացվող էներգիան օգտագործվելու է չքավորներին և բարեգործական կազմակերպություններին ուղիղ օգնություն հատկացնելուն։ Արևային վահանակներից ստացվող էներգիան, որը փոխանցվում է ընդհանուր ցանց, հաշվարկվելու է և, այն ինչ չի օգտագործվում սեփականատերերի կողմից, փոխանցելու են չքավորներին։ Այս նախաձեռնությունը նաև որոշակիորեն իր հակառակորդներն ունի, որոնք նշում են, թե ավստրիական իշխանությունը պարտավոր է ըստ պայմանավորվածությունների գնել էլեկտրաէներգիան, այլ ոչ իրենց հաշվին լավություն անել այլոց, սակայն ավստրիական իշխանությունները խոստացել են որոշակի փոխհատուցում իրականացնել, որի պայմաններում կշահեն բոլորը։
