ՀՀ կառավարության որոշմամբ Երևանի Հովհ. Թումանյանի անվան պետական տիկնիկային թատրոնին շնորհվել է «Ազգային» կարգավիճակ:
ԿԳՄՍ նախարարության հաղորդմամբ, համաձայն հիմնավորման՝ Երևանի Հովհ. Թումանյանի անվան պետական տիկնիկային թատրոնը հանդիսանում է Հայաստանի մշակութային առաջատար թատերախմբերից մեկը, որն իր գործունեությամբ նպաստում է ոչ տիկնիկային արվեստի և գեղագիտական դաստիրակության զարգացմանը:
«Կարգավիճակը շատ պարտավորեցնող է մեզ համար, ուստի խոստանում ենք միշտ լինել հետաքրքիր, անակնկալներով ու նորություններով լի թատրոն, որտեղ սկսվել է յուրաքանչյուրիս մանկությունը»,- կառավարության որոշմանն արձագանքել են Տիկնիկային թատրոնից։
Ավելի քան ութ տասնամյա գործունեության ընթացքում թատրոնը հայ երեխաների համար ներկայացրել տիկնիկային արվեստը՝ նպաստելով դրա տարածմանը: Իր գործունեության ընթացքում թատրոնում բեմադրվել է ավելի քան 435 ներկայացում, որին ներկա է եղել ավելի քան 5.000.000 հանդիսատես։
Թատրոնն հանդիսատեսին ներկայանում է տիկնիկային արվեստի բոլոր ժանրերով՝ ձեռնոցային, խամաճիկային, ձողիկավոր, պլանշետային, տանտամարեսկոներ, մամոլենգեներ, մանեկեններ, ստվերային տիկնիկներ։ Թատրոնի ակտիվ խաղացանկում ներկա պահին ավելի քան 40 ներկայացում կա:
Թատրոնը նաև ակտիվ շրջա¬գայում է՝ հյուրախաղային գործունեություն ծավալելով արտերկրում և ՀՀ մարզերում: Թատրոնը մասնակցել է մոտ 100 միջազգային փառատոների, մասնավորապես՝ ԱՄՆ, Կանադա, Կոստա Ռիկա, Մեծ Բրիտանիա, Ֆրանսիա, Գերմանիա, Իտալիա, Լեհաստան, Չեխիա, Սերբիա, Հունգարիա, Լիտվա, Ռումինիա, Բելոռուս, Մոլդովա, Վրաստան, Ղազախստան, ԱՄԷ, Լիբանան, Եգիպտոս, Սիրիա, Թունիս, Իրան, Հնդկաստան, Թաիլանդ, Բահրեյն՝ արժանանալով տարբեր մրցանակների ու դիպլոմների, այդ թվում` ամենահեղինակավոր փառատոներում («Չեխովյան», «Ոսկե դիմակ» և այլք):
