Ինչու Էդեն Ազարը չմիացավ Լիոնել Մեսսիին MLS-ում կամ Կրիշտիանու Ռոնալդուին Սաուդյան Արաբիայի Պրոֆեսիոնալ լիգայում: «Չելսիի» և Մադրիդի «Ռեալի» նախկին հարձակվողը բացատրել է 32 տարեկանում թոշակի անցնելը: Գրել է Goal-ը։
Բելգիայի հավաքականի նախկին խաղացողը զարմացրել էր ֆուտբոլային աշխարհը, երբ հայտարարել էր իր կարիերան ավարտելու մասին ընդամենը 32 տարեկանում:
Նա Մադրիդի «Ռեալի» կողմից ազատ էր արձակվել որպես ազատ գործակալ Սանտյագո Բեռնաբեուում անցկացրած 4 մրցաշրջաններից հետո, և որոշում էր կայացրել կախել խաղակոշիկներ նոր ակումբ գտնելու փոխարեն:
Խոսվում էր այն մասին, որ Ազարը տեղափոխվում է Ամերիկա կամ Մերձավոր Արևելք, որտեղ շատ փողեր ու ծանոթ դեմքեր կարելի է գտնել: Ազարը լրագրողներին պատմել է այդ ենթադրությունների մասին Դիդյե Դեշամի և Ռոբերտ Պիրեսի պես բարեգործական հանդիպմանը մասնակցելու հետո. «Ես փողի համար ոչ մի տեղ չէի խաղա: Ես 32 տարեկան եմ և իմ առջևում մի ամբողջ կյանք կա, որ վայելեմ խաղադաշտերից հեռու»:
Ազարը նաև անդրադարձել է «Ռեալում» անցկացրած տարիներին. «Երբեք հեշտ չէ նման որոշում կայացնելը, բայց ես չեմ պատրաստվում ասել, որ դա դժվար էր: Դա մի բան է, որի մասին ես շատ էի անդրադարձել, ես ունեի ինձ ճանաչող մարդկանց աջակցությունը, որոնք գիտեն, որոնք գիտեն, որ ես իսկապես ուզում եմ այլ բաներով զբաղվել իմ կյանքում ֆուտբոլից դուրս: Անցած մրցաշրջանը բարդ էր, և երբ ես հեռացա ազգային ընտրանուց, արդեն ամեն ինչ մտածված էր։ Ես այլևս հաճույք չէի ստանում մարզումների գնալուց, և քանի որ քիչ էի խաղում, դա ավելի բարդացավ»:
