Սահարան կարող է համաշխարհային արևային էլեկտրակայան դառնալ

Եթե ամբողջ Սահարան պատենք արևային և հողմային էլեկտրակայաններով, ապա դա ոչ միայն Երկրի ամբողջ բնակչությանը էլեկտրաէներգիայով կապահովի, այլև անապատը կրկին կյանքի համար պիտանի կդարձնի։
Ըստ փորձագետների, Սահարան իդեալական վայր է հսկայական ծավալներով էլեկտրակայանի կառուցման համար, որը կբավարարի մարդկության էներգետիկ կարիքները քառապատիկ պաշարով:

Առայժմ նախագիծը միայն մշակման փուլում է, և պետք է անցնի աֆրիկյան միության հավանությունը, սակայն այն իրացման մեծ պոտենցիալ ունի, քանի որ Սահարան տիրապետող երկրները ևս շահագրգռված են անապատային ահռելի տարածքները յուրացնելու, այն էներգետիկ անվտանգության խնդիր լուծելու համար։
