Երեւանի ավագանու անդրանիկ նիստում քաղաքապետի միակ թեկնածու Տիրգան Ավինյանը ընտրվեց Երեւանի քաղաքապետ: 

Երեւանի քաղաքապետարանի աշխատակազմի կազմակերպական վարչության պետ Արմինե Վարդանյան ներկայցնելքով քվեարկության արդյունքները, նշեց, որ քվեարկությանը մասնակցել է ավագանու 65 անդամներից 37-ը, անվավեր քվեաթերթիկ չի եղել: Տիգրան Ավինյանին կողմ է քվեարկել 32, դեմ 5 ավագանու անդամ: 

«Հիմք ընդունելով  ընդունելով ՀՀ ընտրական օրենսգրքի 142.2 կետի 8-րդ մասը, ղեվարավելով Երեւանի ավագանու 2009 թվականի հունիսի 18-ի որոշմամբ հավելվածով հաստատված 106-րդ կետը եւ հիմք ընդունելով ընտրությունների արդյունքները, հայտարարում եմ Երեւանի քաղաքապետ ընտրվել է Տիգրան Արմենի Ավինյանը»,-հայտարարեց Վարդանյանը, որին հաջորդեցին ծափահարություններ:

Նշենք, որ քաղաքապետ ընտրվելու համար անհրաժեշտ է տանալ 33 կողմ ձայն, սակայն քանի որ Ավինյանը քաղաքապետի միակ առաջադրված թեկնածուն էր, ընտրվելու համար նրան 27 ձայն էր անհրաժեշտ։

Ինչպես ավելի վաղ հայտարարվել էր, Անդրանիկ Թևանյանի «Մայր Հայաստան» դաշինքն ու նախկին քաղաքապետ Հայկ Մարությանի «Ազգային առաջընթաց» կուսակցությունը չմասնակցեցին ավագանու նդրանիկ նիստին, որպեսզի տապալեն այն և կրկնակի ընտրություններ անցկացնեն։ Իսկ ահա Վարդան Ղուկասյանի «Հանրային ձայնը» մասնակցեց նիստին, որի արդյունքում քվորում ապահովվեց եւ նիստը կայացավ:
