ԱՄՆ-ը ներողություն Է խնդրել Իրանի տարածքային ջրեր ներխուժելու համար: Այդ մասին, ինչպես տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ հղում անելով BBC-ին, հայտարարել Է Իսլամական հեղափոխության պահապանների կորպուսի ռազմածովային ուժերի հրամանատար Ալի Ֆադավին:
Երկրի պետական հեռուստատեսությանը տված հարցազրույցում Ֆադավին ասել Է, որ սպասում Է ամերիկացի այն տասը ծովայինների ազատ արձակման հրամանին, որոնց բռնել են իրանական ուժերը: Այդ որոշումը պետք Է ընդունվի առաջիկա ժամերին:
Հրամանատարի խոսքով՝ հետաքննությունը ցույց Է տվել, որ ամերիկացիներն Իրանի տարածքային ջրերում են հայտնվել նավավարական համակարգի սխալի պատճառով: Նրանք թշնամական նպատակներ չԷին հետապնդում Իրանի նկատմամբ, ինչպես նաեւ չԷին պատրաստվում լրտեսել նրա տարածքը:
ԱՄՆ-ը նույնպես բացատրել Է, որ զինվորականները վարժանքներ Էին անցկացնում Պարսից ծոցում: Խափանված նավավարական համակարգի պատճառով ամերիկյան նավերը հայտնվել են Իրանի տարածքային ջրերում:
Լույս հունվարի 12-ի գիշերը հայտնի Է դարձել Իրանի կողմից ամերիկացի 10 զինվորների կալանման մասին, որոնք գտնվում Էին երկու ռազմանավերում: Իրանը ԱՄՆ-ին մեղադրել Է իր ծովային սահմանները խախտելու մեջ եւ պահանջել Է, որ Վաշինգտոնը ներողություն խնդրի դրա համար:
