Հուլիսի 29-ին ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության Շիրակի մարզի օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն հաղորդում էր ստացվել, որ «գանգուղեղային փակ վնասվածք» ախտորոշմամբ Արթիկի շտապօգնության խումբը «Գյումրի» բժշկական կենտրոն էր տեղափոխել Լեռնակերտ գյուղի բնակիչ 55-ամյա Սմբատ Մացոյանին։ Հիվանդանոց էր մեկնել ոստիկանության Արթիկի բաժնի օպերատիվ խումբը։ Պարզվել էր, որ նա անգիտակից վիճակում հիվանդանոց էր տեղափոխվել 61-ամյա համագյուղացու տնից։
ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության Շիրակի մարզային վարչության և Արթիկի բաժնի ծառայողները, իրացնելով օպերատիվ տվյալներն ու համատեղ ձեռնարկելով օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումներ, Լեռնակերտ գյուղում հայտնաբերել, ձեռբակալել և բաժին էին տեղափոխել 61-ամյա տղամարդուն։ Նա խոստովանել էր, որ հուլիսի 29-ի ժամը 01.00-ի սահմաններում Լեռնակերտ գյուղի իր տանը վիճաբանել էր 55-ամյա համագյուղացու հետ, մի քանի անգամ ձեռքերով հարվածներ էր հասցրել նրա դեմքին, որի ընթացքում նրա գլուխը դիպել էր պատին և նա ընկել էր՝ ստանալով մարմնական վնասվածքներ:
61-ամյա լեռնակերտցին ներկայացվել էր նախաքննական մարմին:
Նախաձեռնվել էր քրեական վարույթ։
Օգոստոսի 11-ին, ժամը 05.20-ին, ոստիկանության Նոր Նորքի բաժին «Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչ» բժկական կենտրոնից հաղորդում է ստացվել, որ իրենց մոտ տեղափոխված 55-ամյա Սմբատ Մացոյանը, գիտակցության չգալով, մահացել է:
Ծանուցում. Ենթադրյալ հանցանքի մեջ կասկածվողը կամ մեղադրվողը համարվում է անմեղ, քանի դեռ նրա մեղավորությունն ապացուցված չէ ՀՀ քրեական դատավարության օրենսգրքով սահմանված կարգով` դատարանի` օրինական ուժի մեջ մտած դատավճռով:
