Եվրախորհրդարանի պատգամավոր Կոստաս Մավրիդեսը Լաչինի միջանցքի արգելափակման հետևանքով Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում տիրող իրավիճակը մարդասիրական արտակարգ իրավիճակ և Ադրբեջանի կողմից միջազգային իրավունքի բացահայտ խախտում է համարում։

Մավրիդեսը «Արմենպրեսի» հարցին ի պատասխան՝ նշել է, որ Լաչինի միջանցքի ամբողջական և կամայական շրջափակումը, մասնավորապես՝ շրջափակման մեջ գտնվող Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի բնակչության հիմնական կարիքների համար հումանիտար բեռների մատակարարման խոչընդոտումը, միջազգային իրավունքի համաձայն՝ համարվում է պատերազմական հանցագործություն։

«Անցյալ ամիս՝ Եվրախորհրդարանի լիագումար նիստի ժամանակ, ես  երկու հարց ուղղեցի բարձր ներկայացուցիչ Բորելին: Առաջին հարցս հետևյալն էր՝ Ադրբեջանը էթնիկ զտումներ է կատարում, սա հանցագործությո՞ւն է, թե՞ ոչ։ Իսկ երկրորդը շատ հստակ հարցում էր՝ մինչ այժմ «կատարվող հանցագործությանը» եվրոպական արձագանքը համաչա՞փ է համարում։ Եվրախորհրդարանն այս հարցում խիստ դիրքորոշում ունի՝ կոչ անելով Ադրբեջանին հարգել համապատասխան որոշումները և անհապաղ վերաբացել Լաչինի միջանցքը։ Չնայած արտաքին քաղաքականության և պատժամիջոցների վերաբերյալ որոշումներն ընդունվում են Եվրոպական խորհրդի մակարդակով, որտեղ մասնակցում են պետությունների և կառավարությունների ղեկավարները, այդուամենայնիվ, բարձր ներկայացուցիչը կարող է կարևոր քաղաքական դեր ունենալ»,- ասել է Մավրիդեսը։

Նրա խոսքով՝ Հայաստանում ԵՄ քաղաքացիական առաքելություն սկսելու ԵՄ որոշումը նույնպես կարևոր քայլ էր քաղաքական և գործնական առումով։

«Հաշվի առնելով, որ իրավիճակը տեղում վատթարանում է, և Ադրբեջանը շարունակում է Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի բնակչությանը սովի մատնելու քաղաքականությունն ու չի հարգում միջազգային կազմակերպությունների որոշումները, ժամանակն է, որ միջազգային հանրությունը և ԵՄ-ն ավելի կտրուկ միջոցներ ձեռնարկեն, օրինակ՝ Ադրբեջանի դեմ պատժամիջոցներ սահմանեն»,- ամփոփել է եվրապատգամավորը։
