Հռոմի պապ Ֆրանցիսկոսը հույս է հայտնել, որ երիտասարդներն ու կանայք կկարողանան փրկել մոլորակը ապագա սերունդների համար։ Նրա ուղերձը Լիսաբոնում Պորտուգալական կաթոլիկ համալսարանի ուսանողներին հեռարձակել է Vatican News պորտալը։
Պոնտիֆիկոսը առաքելական ուղևորություն է կատարել Պորտուգալիա՝ կաթոլիկների Երիտասարդության համաշխարհային օրվա կապակցությամբ։
Իր ելույթի ժամանակ Պապը մատնանշել է «մեր ընդհանուր տան մասին հոգալու դրամատիկ հրատապությունը ընդունելու» անհրաժեշտությունը։ Նա նշել է, որ դա հնարավոր չէ անել առանց տնտեսագիտության և քաղաքականության վրա հիմնված մարդաբանական տեսլականի փոփոխության։ Նրա խոսքերով, չի կարելի բավարարվել «պարզ ամոքիչ միջոցներով կամ երկչոտ ու երկիմաստ փոխզիջումներով»։
Ըստ Ֆրենսիսի, փոխզիջումների որոնումը կարող է լինել «աղետի մի փոքր հետաձգում», բայց խոսքը վերաբերում է պատասխանատվություն ստանձնելուն՝ վերանայելու այն, ինչ կոչվում է «առաջընթաց և էվոլյուցիա»: Պոնտիֆիկոսի խոսքերով՝ «չափազանց մեծ հետընթաց է տեղի ունեցել՝ հանուն առաջընթացի»։
