Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանը ուրբաթ օրը հայտարարել է, որ սպասում է Եվրամիության արձագանքին՝ Թուրքիայի համար առանց վիզայի ռեժիմին անցնելու և անդամակցության բանակցությունների վերսկսման վերաբերյալ։

«Հիմա մենք սպասում ենք Եվրամիության արձագանքին: Վիլնյուսում [ՆԱՏՕ-ի գագաթնաժողովի շրջանակներում] մենք մանրամասն քննարկել ենք այդ հարցերը ԵՄ անդամ բոլոր երկրների ղեկավարների հետ, մենք բոլորի հետ հանդիպումներ ենք անցկացրել և ասել, որ ցանկանում ենք դրական քայլեր ձեռնարկվեն Թուրքիայի նկատմամբ, որը 52 տարի սպասել է դռան մոտ»,- ուրբաթ օրը Ստամբուլում լրագրողներին ասել է նա՝ պատասխանելով վիզային ռեժիմի ազատականացման և եվրաինտեգրման վերականգնման հեռանկարների մասին հարցին։ Այս մասին հաղորդում է ՏԱՍՍ–ը։

Թուրքական իշխանությունները նախապես հայտարարել էին, որ Շվեդիայի՝ ՆԱՏՕ-ին անդամակացության հայտի հաստատման հիմնական պայմանը, որը նա ներկայացրել է 2022 թվականի մայիսին, պետք է լինի ահաբեկչության դեմ պայքարի Մադրիդյան հուշագրի պարտավորությունների կատարումը։ Այնուամենայնիվ, նախքան ՆԱՏՕ-ի գագաթնաժողովին թռչելը, Թուրքիայի ղեկավարն ասել էր, որ Թուրքիան կաջակցի դաշինքին միանալու Շվեդիայի հայտին՝ Անկարայի համար ԵՄ անդամակցության խոչընդոտները վերացնելու դիմաց։
