Հունիսի 1-ին Ն.Ս.Օ.Տ.Տ. Գարեգին Երկրորդ Ծայրագույն Պատրիարք և Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսը Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնում ընդունեց Հունգարիայի փոխվարչապետ Ժոլտ Շեմյենի գլխավորած պատվիրակությանը։
Մայր Աթոռից NEWS.am-ին հայտնում են, որ հանդիպմանը ներկա էին նաև Հունգարիայում Հայաստանի Հանրապետության արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան տիար Աշոտ Սմբատյանը և ՀՀ-ում Հունգարիայի արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան տիկին Աննա Մարիա Շիկոն։
Զրույցի ընթացքում անդրադառնալով Հայաստանի և Հունգարիայի միջև դիվանագիտական հարաբերությունների վերականգնմանը՝ Նորին Սրբությունը հույս հայտնեց, որ անհրաժեշտ քայլերը կձեռնարկվեն հայ-հունգարական կապերի և համագործակցության առավել արդյունավորման ուղղությամբ։
Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսն ի դեմս փոխվարչապետի իր գնահատանքը հայտնեց Հունգարիայի իշխանություններին հայկական համայնքին ցուցաբերվող զորակցության, ինչպես նաև Մերձավոր Արևելքի երկրներում քրիստոնեական համայնքներին աջակցության համար։
Հանդիպմանը Հայոց Հովվապետն մտահոգությամբ անդրադարձ կատարեց Հայաստանի ինքնիշխան տարածքների և Արցախի ժողովրդի նկատմամբ Ադրբեջանի կողմից շարունակական ոտնձգություններին՝ կարևորելով տարածաշրջանում խաղաղության և կայունության հաստատմանն ուղղված՝ միջազգային կառույցների հետևողական քայլերի իրականացման անհրաժեշտությունը։ Նորին Սրբությունն այս կապակցությամբ իր երախտագիտությունը հայտնեց Հունգարիայի իշխաննություններին հինգ հայ ռազմագերիների հայրենադարձման հարցում ներդրած միջնորդական ջանքերի համար։
Իր հերթին փոխվարչապետ Ժոլտ Շեմյենը խոսեց հայ-հունգարական դիվանագիտական կապերի վերականգնման կարևորության մասին։ Փոխվարչապետը հավաստիացրեց Հայոց Հայրապետին, որ Հունգարիայի իշխանությունները շարունակելու են իրենց աջակցությունը Հունգարիայի հայ համայնքին և հայոց եկեղեցուն, ինչպես նաև Մերձավոր Արևելքի երկրներում քրիստոնեական համայնքներին։ Պրն․ Շեմյենը Վեհափառ Հայրապետին նաև տեղեկացրեց, որ Հունգարիայում գործող հայկական եկեղեցին ստացել է պետական գրանցում։
Պրն․ Ժոլտ Շեմյենը կատարեց նաև մեկ այլ պարտականություն՝ Ամենայն Հայոց Հայրապետին հանձնելով Բուդապեշտի Կարոլի Գաշփար համալսարանի պատվավոր դոկտորի կոչումը։
Հանդիպմանը նաև խոսվեց միջեկեղեցական հարաբերությունների, ինչպես նաև Հունգարիայի հայ համայնքի կյանքի մասին։
