Հոլիվուդյան դերասան Մեթ Դեյմոնը խոստովանել է, որ «Ավատար» գիտաֆանտաստիկ ֆիլմում դերից հրաժարվելը եղել է «դերասանության պատմության մեջ դերասանի կողմից երբևէ արված ամենահիմար քայլը»:
Ինչպես գրում է Daily Mail-ը, 52-ամյա Դեյմոնը 250 մլն դոլար կստանար, եթե ժամանակին համաձայներ ռեժիսոր Ջեյմս Քեմերոնի ֆիլմում մարմնավորել Ջեյք Սալիի կերպարը, որն արդյունքում մարմնավորել է Սեմ Ուորթինգթոնը:
«Ես հավանաբար նկարահանվել եմ մոտ 50 ֆիլմում, բայց երբեք չեմ ունեցել ֆիլմ, որը 1 մլրդ դոլար է հավաքել կինովարձույթում»,- ասել է Դեյմոնը:
Աղբյուրը հիշեցնում է, որ Դեյմոնը 2019 թվականի հոկտեմբերին բրիտանական GQ-ին ասել էր, որ շահութաբեր դերից հրաժարումն իր կարիերայի «ամենամեծ ափսոսանքներից» մեկն է:
«Ջեյմս Քեմերոնն ինձ «Ավատար»-ում դեր է առաջարկել: Նա ինձ ասաց.«Լսի՛ր, ես ոչ ոքի կարիքը չունեմ, ինձ հայտնի դերասան պետք չէ: Եթե դու հրաժարվես այս առաջարկից, ես կգտնեմ անհայտ դերասանի և դերը կտամ նրան, որովհետև ֆիլմը քո կարիքը չունի։ Բայց եթե դու նկարահանվես, ես քեզ կտամ (շահույթի) 10 տոկոսը»», - GQ-ին պատմել էր Դեյմոնը։
