Հնդկաստանի վարչապետ Նարենդրա Մոդին, ով որպես հատուկ հյուր մասնակցում է Հիրոսիմայում G7-ի գագաթնաժողովին, շաբաթ առավոտյան 1945 թվականին ատոմային ռմբակոծված քաղաքում տեղի ունեցած արարողության ժամանակ բացել է Հնդկաստանի կողմից նվիրաբերված Մահաթմա Գանդիի կիսանդրին:

«Բացվեց Մահաթմա Գանդիի կիսանդրին: Հիրոսիմայի այս կիսանդրին շատ կարևոր ուղերձ է պարունակում: Խաղաղության և ներդաշնակության Գանդիական իդեալները հնչում են ամբողջ աշխարհում և ուժ են տալիս միլիոնավոր մարդկանց»,- գրել է Նարենդրա Մոդին:
Գանդիի կիսանդրին՝ մեկ մետր 6 սանտիմետր բարձրությամբ, տեղադրված է պատվանդանի վրա՝ աշխարհահռչակ «Ատոմային գմբեթի» մոտ գտնվող այգում, որը գտնվում է 1945 թվականի ատոմային պայթյունի էպիկենտրոնի մոտ՝ Խաղաղության հուշահամալիրի մի մասում։
Բացման արարողությանը ներկա են եղել Ճապոնիայի վարչապետի հատուկ խորհրդական և պատգամավոր Նակատանի Գենը, Հիրոսիմայի քաղաքապետ Կազումի Մացուին և քաղաքային այլ պաշտոնյաներ, ինչպես նաև Ճապոնիայի խորհրդարանի անդամներ Հիրոսիմայից և Ճապոնիայում հնդկական սփյուռքի ներկայացուցիչներ:
