ԱՄՆ ֆինանսների նախարար Ջենեթ Յելենը նախազգուշացրել է, որ եթե Կոնգրեսը միջոցներ չձեռնարկի պետական պարտքի վերին շեմը բարձրացնելու ուղղությամբ, ապա երկիրը կարող է սահմանադրական ճգնաժամի առաջ կանգնել: Այս մասին հաղորդում է «Արմենպրես»-ը՝ վկայակոչելով Reuters-ին:
Ըստ պաշտոնյայի՝ պարտքի վերին շեմը պետք է բարձրացնել մինչև հունիսի սկիզբը, այլապես այդ ժամանակ դաշնային կառավարությունը կարող է այլևս գումար չունենալ իր հաշիվները վճարելու համար:
«Դա Կոնգրեսի աշխատանքն է: Եթե նրանք ձախողեն դա, ապա մենք կունենանք տնտեսական և ֆինանսական աղետ, որը ստեղծել ենք մեր իսկ ձեռքերով: Եվ մենք չպետք է հասնենք այն կետին, երբ ստիպված լինենք մտածել՝ արդյոք նախագահը կարող է շարունակել պարտքի թողարկումը: Դա սահմանադրական ճգնաժամ կլիներ», - ասել է Յելենը՝ նկատի ունենալով գործադիր և օրենսդիր իշխանությունների լիազորությունների սահմանազատումն ԱՄՆ սահմանադրությամբ:
ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենը Կոնգրեսին խնդրել է բարձրացնել պետական պարտքի վերին շեմն՝ առանց նախապայմանների: Հանրապետականների կողմից վերահսկվող Ներկայացուցիչների պալատն անցյալ ամիս համաձայնել է պետական պարտքի 31.4 տրիլիոն դոլարի շեմը բարձրացնել 1.5 տրիլիոն դոլարով: Միևնույն ժամանակ Հանրապետականները պահանջում են առաջիկա տասնամյակի ընթացքում կրճատել պետական ծախսերը: Բայդենը և դեմոկրատները դեմ են այս պահանջին:
Այս հարցը քննարկելու համար մայիսի 9-ին ԱՄՆ նախագահը Սպիտակ տանը նախատեսում է հանդիպել Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի խոսնակ Քևին Մաքքարթիի, Սենատում հանրապետականների ղեկավար Միչ Մաքքոնելի և Կոնգրեսի բարձրաստիճան դեմոկրատների հետ:
Վաշինգտոնը պարբերաբար սահմանում է դաշնային փոխառությունների սահմանափակում: Ներկայում փոխառությունների վերին շեմը հավասար է երկրի տարեկան տնտեսական արդյունքի մոտավորապես 120%-ին։ Պարտքը հասել է այդ սահմանագծին հունվարին:
