Միացյալ Թագավորության Համայնքների պալատում մայիսի 2-ին տեղի է ունեցել քննարկում/հարցադրումներ խորհրդարանականների կողմից՝ ուղղված Ֆորին Օֆիսի ղեկավար Ջեյմս Քլեվերլիին և Եվրոպայի հարցերով նախարար Լեո Դոհերթիին։
«Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ հարցուպատասխանի ժամանակ Ջայլզ Ուոթլինգը (Պահպանողական կուսակցություն) հարց է բարձրացրել, թե ինչ քայլեր է ձեռնարկում ՄԹ կառավարությունը հայ-ադրբեջանական հարաբերությունների կարգավորման և Լաչինի միջանցքի փակման հետևանքով առաջացած հումանիտար հետևանքների վերացման ուղղությամբ։
Լեո Դոհերթին պատասխանել է, որ ՄԹ-ն մեծապես կարևորում է հարաբերությունները երկու երկրների՝ Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև, և գտնում է, որ ԼՂ հակամարտությունը չունի ռազմական լուծում և որ խաղաղ բանակցությունները կարող են կայունություն և բարգավաճում հաստատել տարածաշրջանում։
«Մենք կոչ ենք անում կողմերին ներգրավվել բովանդակային բանակցությունների մեջ՝ ապահովելու տարածաշրջանի անվտանգությունն ու կայունությունը», - նշել է Լեո Դոհերթին։
Ջայլզ Ուոթլինգն այնուհետև հարց է բարձրացրել նաև Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչման հարցի վերաբերյալ՝ նշելով, որ օրեր առաջ ՄԹ-ում ՀՀ դեսպան Վարուժան Ներսեսյանի հետ այցելել է Սենոտաֆ հուշահամալիր և ծաղկեպսակ զետեղել Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակին։
«Ինչու ՄԹ կառավարությունը չի ճանաչում Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը, ինչպես որ դա արել են շատ այլ երկրներ», - հարցրել է Ուոթլինգը։
Լեո Դոհերթին պատասխանել է․
«Դա շատ զգայուն հարց է։ ՄԹ կառավարության դիրքորոշումն է, որ դատական մարմինը, այլ ոչ թե գործադիրը պետք է անդրադառնա ցեղասպանությունների ճանաչմանը։ Մենք ճանաչում ենք միայն այն հանցագործությունները, որոնք ճանաչված են միջազգային իրավական մարմինների կողմից։ Դա վճռորոշ գործոն է»։
Քարլ Մոնագանը (Շոտլանդիայի ազգային կուսակցություն) հարց է ուղղել Լեո Դոհերթիին՝ նշելով․ «Լաչինի միջանցքի փակման հետևանքով իրավիճակը Լեռնային Ղարաբաղում աղետալի է։ Այդ մասին զեկուցում են տասնյակ ոչ կառավարական կազմակերպություններ։ Genocide Watch-ը նախազգուշացրել է նաև էթնիկ զտումների հնարավորության մասին։ 120․000 մարդ շրջափակված է և գտնվում է հումանիտար ծանր իրավիճակում։ Ինչ ճնշումներ է գործադրում Ֆորին Օֆիսը, որպեսզի Լաչինի միջանցքը բացվի և հումանիտար իրավիճակը կարգավորվի»։
Լեո Դոհերթին պատասխանել է․
«Մենք կոչ ենք անում, որպեսզի կողմերը ներգրավվեն բովանդակային բանակցությունների մեջ, և որ Լաչինի միջանցքը պետք է բացվի։ Մենք ուրախ ենք, որ ՄԹ կառավարությունը Կարմիր խաչի միջազգային կոմիտեի միջոցով 1 մլն․ ֆունտի հումանիտար օգնություն է տրամադրել կոնֆլիկտի հետևանքները վերացնելու համար»։
