Էլեկտրաէներգետիկան աշխարհում ածխաթթու գազի առավելագույն արտանետումներով ոլորտն է, և դրա դեկարբոնիզացիան զրոյական էներգոսպառմամբ էներգետիկ ոլորտի հիմնաքարն է։ Միջազգային էներգետիկ գործակալության մոդելավորման համաձայն՝ էլեկտրաէներգետիկան պետք է դառնա առաջին ոլորտը, որը մաքուր զրոյական կետի կարող է հասնել արդեն 2040 թվականին, որպեսզի 2050 թվականի սկզբներին արդեն ողջ տնտեսությունը փոխակերպվի զրոյական արտանետումների, դա նշանակում է, որ այլևս 2030 թվականին էլեկտրաէներգիայի սպառման համաշխարհային ծավալի 41 %-ը առնվազն պետք է բաժին հասնի քամու և արևային էներգիային, ինչը զգալի պետք է տարբերվի այս օրերի իրականությունից։
Նախորդ տարի նույնիսկ ռեկորդային աճի պայմաններում հաջողվել է հասնել ընդամենը 12 %-ի։ Էներգետիկայի փորձագետների զեկույցի համաձայն՝ այժմ կառավարությունների, բիզնեսի և շարքային քաղաքացիների ջանքերի շնորհիվ հաջողվել է լուրջ հաջողությունների հասնել, սակայն ամեն ինչ կախված է ջանքերի մեկտեղումից և քաղաքական կամքից, որպեսզի աշխարհը դուրս բերել էկոլոգիապես մաքուր էներգետիկայի ճանապարհ։ Լավ նորությունն այն է, որ աշխարհում կան համապատասխան տեխնոլոգիաներ նման հավակնոտ ծրագրերն իրականացնելու համար։
