Մինչ հայ հասարակությունը տարված է դրոշի այրման ակցիայով, Վաշինգտոնը ստիպում է Երևանին միանալ հակառուսական պատժամիջոցներին, ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է քաղաքական գիտությունների դոկտոր Վահե Դավթյանը:
«Որոշ աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ` սյդ հարցը քննարկվել է փոխվարչապետ Մհեր Գրիգորյանի և ԱՄՆ ֆինանսների փոխնախարար Ուոլլի Ադեյեմոյի հանդիպման ժամանակ: Հարցը օրակարգային է եղել նաև ԱՄՆ առևտրի նախարարի օգնական Թեա Քենդելլի մի քանի օր առաջ Երևան կայացած այցի ժամանակ:
Բնականաբար, որևէ պաշտոնական հաղորդագրության, ինչպես նաև հանդիպման արձանագրության մեջ չի նշվում պատժամիջոցային թեմատիկայի քննարկման մասին:
Պաշտոնական Երևանը սահմանափակվել է բացառապես հայ-ամերիկյան տնտեսական կապերին վերաբերող «հարցերի լայն շրջանակի» մասին հայտարարությամբ: Գրեթե նույն՝ ոչինչ չասող սահմանումն է կիրառել նաև Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ դեսպանը:

1. Ռուսաստանը Հայաստանի առանցքային առևտրանտեսական գործընկերն է, որի նկատմամբ պատժամիջոցներին միանալը կհանգեցնի Հայաստանի տնտեսական կոլապսի:
2. Հակառուսական պատժամիջոցներին միանալը հանգեցնելու է լուրջ անվտանգային հետևանքների, որոնք հաղթահարելու համար Արևմուտքից մենք ստանալու ենք ընդամենը աջակցության խոսույթ: Բայց ոչ աջակցություն:
3. Հայաստանից ռուսական գործոնի դուրսմղման արդյունքում ձևավորվելու է ռազմավարական վակուում, որը լցվելու է ոչ թե արևմտյան, այլ առավելապես թուրքական ազդեցությամբ:
4. Հակառուսական պատժամիջոցներին միանալով՝ Երևանը վերջնականապես զրոյացնելու է հայ-իրանական հարաբերությունները, որոնք առանց այդ էլ վերջին տարիներին մեղմ ասած բացասական դինամիկա են դրսևորում:
5. Նման արկածախնդրությունը մեզ վերջնականապես դարձնելու է քվազի-պետություն, խամաճիկ որոշ արևմտյան էլիտաների ձեռքերում: Այն, ինչից այսօր բավականին հմտորեն փորձում է խուսափել նույն Վրաստանը»,- գրել է նա:
