Կանադայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար Մելանի Ժոլին խորհրդարանում լսումների ժամանակ Ադրբեջանին կոչ է արել վերաբացել Լաչինի միջանցքը և ազատ արձակել հայ ռազմագերիներին:
«Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ Կանադայի խորհրդարանում կայացած քննարկման ժամանակ պատգամավոր Ջին Յիփը ներկայացրել է Կանադայի հայ համայնքի մտահոգությունները Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև լարվածության աճի և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հակամարտության առնչությամբ: Պատգամավորը հիշեցրել է, որ Լաչինի միջանցքն արդեն ավելի քան 100 օր է՝ արգելափակված է, ինչը հանգեցրել է մարդասիրական ճգնաժամի:
Ջին Յիփը արտգործնախարար Մելանի Ջոլիին խնդրել է ներկայացնել Կանադայի կառավարության կողմից ձեռնարկված քայլերն այս հարցի շուրջ:
«Ես կիսում եմ կանադահայերի և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի հայերի մտահոգությունները: Մենք շարունակում ենք Ադրբեջանի իշխանություններին կոչ անել վերաբացել Լաչինի միջանցքը, մենք պետք է կանխենք հումանիտար ճգնաժամի վատթարացումը: Կանադան աջակցում է 2020 թ.-ի հրադադարի համաձայնագրին, այդ թվում՝ հայ ռազմագերիների վերադարձին», - ասել է Մելանի Ժոլին:
Կանադայի արտաքին գերատեսչության ղեկավարը շեշտել է, որ կարևոր է հարգել հրադադարը, որին աջակցում է նաև ԵՄ դիտորդական խումբը:
