Երեւանի քաղաքապետարանի մեր աղբյուրներից տեղեկացանք, որ գործող քաղաքապետ Հրաչյա Սարգսյանը հրաժարականի դիմում է պատրաստվում գրել, կամ գուցե արդեն գրել է, որը դեռեւս չեն հրապարակում։ 
Մեր աղբյուրներն ասում են, որ ներքին քաղաքական քննարկումներ են ընթանում, որով պայմանավորված դիմումը կարող է հրապարակվել անգամ վաղը, կամ գուցե երկուշաբթի՝ եթե ինչ-որ ֆորսմաժորի պատճառով այն չչեղարկվի, ինչպես վերջին ամիսներին Սարգսյանի գրած մի քանի դիմումների հետ է եղել։

Մենք ժամանակին գրել ենք, որ Երեւանի դե ֆակտո քաղաքապետը Տիգրան Ավինյանն է, որը ձգտում է արտահերթ ընտրություններով՝ նստել քաղաքապետի աթոռին, սակայն գործող քաղաքապետի հրաժարականը քաղաքական պատճառներով հետաձգվում է։ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը արտահերթ ընտրության չգնալը պատճառաբանում է Ավինյանի չաճող վարկանիշը։ Իշխանական աղբյուրներն էլ ասում են, որ ուզում է փոխել թեկնածուին, քանի որ Ավինյանի մեջ տեսնում է իր իշխանության իրավահաջորդ-մրցակցի։ Իսկ եթե Ավինյանը դառնա Երեւանի քաղաքապետ, ապա նրա դեմն առնելը դժվար է լինելու։ Երեւանի փոխքաղաքապետ Գեւորգ Սիմոնյանի ձերբակալությունը կարծես արագացրել է գործընթացները։

Մամուլը գրեց, որ փոխնախարարի դեմ հարուցված քովիդի վերաբերյալ քրեական գործով Փաշինյանը փորձում է գահընկեց անել Ավինյանին, որը քովիդի ժամանակ պարետատունն էր ղեկավարում։ Փոխնախարարի կալանավորման առիթով անգամ ներիշխանական բուռն վեճեր են եղել, Ավինյանն ամեն գնով փորձել է կանխել կալանավորումը, սակայն եղավ այն, ինչ եղավ։ Հիմա նա համոզել է Հրաչյա Սարգսյանին հրաժարականի դիմում գրել, որով կստուգի, թե ինչ տրամադրվածություն կա «վերեւներում» իր քաղաքապետ դառնալու վերաբերյալ։ Եւ չնայած քաղաքապետարանի մեր աղբյուրներն ասում են, որ Հրաչյա Սարգսյանը համաձայնել է դիմումը գրել, սակայն դա դեռ չի նշանակում, թե գնալու են արտահերթ ընտրությունների։ Դրա վերաբերյալ պետք է առանձին քաղաքական որոշում կայացվի։ «Երևանի մասին» օրենքի համաձայն՝ եթե քաղաքապետը հրաժարական ներկայացնի, ապա հրաժարականից հետո հաջորդ երեք օրերին ավագանին պետք է որոշի, թե երբ է ավագանու արտահերթ նիստ գումարում, որ իր կազմից ընտրի քաղաքապետ: Եթե երկշաբաթյա ժամկետում ավագանու կազմից քաղաքապետի թեկնածու չառաջադրվի, կամ առաջադրված թեկնածուն չհավաքի բավարար ձայներ, ապա, համաձայն նույն օրենքի 17-րդ հոդվածի, կառավարությունը կարող է կրճատել ավագանու լիազորությունների ժամկետը և նշանակել արտահերթ ընտրություններ։
