Հունվարի 31-ին՝ ժամը 3.35-ին Անդրանիկի փողոցում դիմակավորված չորս անձ տեխնիկական միջոցների գործադրմամբ փորձել են պայթեցնել բանկոմատն ու գողություն անել։ Այս մասին ասված է ՀՀ Ոստիկանության տարածած մամուլի հաղորդագրության մեջ:
«Հունվարի 31-ի գիշերն էր, ժամը 3.35-ը, երբ հսկող սարքերը մայրաքաղաքի Անդրանիկի փողոցում ֆիքսեցին տարօրինակ շարժ: Դիմակավորված չորս հոգի տեխնիկական միջոցների գործադրմամբ փորձում են բանկոմատից գողություն անել: Գործի կեսն արել էին, մնում էր պայթեցնելը, երբ բանկում ծառայություն կատարող ոստիկանը ձայներ լսեց: Բանկը ոստիկանության պետական պահպանության գլխավոր վարչության հսկողության տակ էր:
Հերթապահող ոստիկանը միջամտեց, և գողության եկած տղամարդիկ, գործն ու գործիքները թողած, փախան: Ահազանգով դեպքի վայր մեկնեցին ոստիկանության Երևան քաղաքի վարչության, Մալաթիայի բաժնի օպերատիվ խմբեր, փորձագետ ու քննիչ: Նախաձեռնվեց քրեական վարույթ, իրավապահներն անցան գործի` տարածքի զննություն, վարկածների վերլուծություն և, իհարկե, օպերատիվ աշխատանք:
Օրեր տևած օպերատիվ-հետախուզական համագործակցված աշխատանքի արդյունքը տեսանելի դարձավ փետրվարի 4-ին: Իրավապահներին հայտնի դարձավ, որ խմբի անդամները ցանկանում են լքել հանրապետության սահմանները և գտնվում են Ստեփանավանում: Երեկոյան ժամը 21.30-ին, ինչպես ասում են` արդեն ճամպրուկները հավաքած, Ստեփանավանում ձերբակալվեցին և, նրանցից մեկի «Հոնդա» մակնիշի մեքենայով հանդերձ, տեղափոխվեցին ոստիկանության Մալաթիայի բաժին, ապա ներկայացվեցին տարածքային քննչական բաժին: Փետրվարի 6-ին դատարանի որոշմամբ իրավապահները խուզարկել են նրանց մեքենան՝ հայտնաբերելով գործարանային համարով «ԳԼՈՔ» ատրճանակ՝ լիցքավորված 9 փամփուշտով:
Բազմիցս տեղեկացրել ենք, որ բանկոմատների մեջ տեղադրված է հատուկ սարքավորում, և բանկոմատի վրա տեխնիկական ներգործության դեպքում թղթադրամների վրա ներկանյութ է լցվում՝ դրանք դարձնելով ոչ պիտանի։ Եվ նույնիսկ գողությունը հաջողությամբ ավարտին հասցնելու պարագայում կանխիկ գումարը կդառնա անպիտան», - ասված է մամուլի հաղորդագրության մեջ:
