Բրիտանական The Guardian պարբերականն ուշագրավ անդրադարձ է կատարել հայկական արմատներով ռուսաստանցի թենիսիստ Կարեն Խաչանովին, որն Ավստրալիայի բաց առաջնությունում տարած հաղթանակներից հետո, տեսախցիկի օբյեկտիվի վրա Արցախին աջակցող գրառումներ էր արել՝ «Արցա՛խ, ուժե՛ղ մնա», «Շարունակեք հավատալ մինչև վերջ, ուժե՛ղ եղիր, Արցա՛խ»։

Պարբերականը նկատում է, որ շրջափակված Արցախի մասին մարզիկի ուղերձները ոչ պակաս ուշադրություն են գրավել, որքան որ նրա խաղը:

Նշվում է, որ Խաչանովի հայրը՝ Աբգարը, Երևանից է:

«Ես հայկական արմատներ ունեմ: Հորս կողմից, պապիկիս, նույնիսկ մայրիկիս կողմից. ես կիսով չափ հայ եմ: Ես չեմ ուզում ավելի խորանալ և պարզապես ուզում էի ուժ և աջակցություն հայտնել իմ ժողովրդին», - իր արարքները մեկնաբանել էր Խաչանովը։

«Խաչանովի աջակցությունը լրացուցիչ լույս է սփռում Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև տարածքային հակամարտության վրա, որը շարունակվում է ավելի քան 30 տարի։ Վերջին խոշոր հակամարտությունը՝ 44-օրյա պատերազմը, տեղի է ունեցել 2020 թվականին, երբ զոհվել է 6800 զինվոր», - գրում է The Guardian-ը՝ հիշեցնելով Արցախը Հայաստանին կապող միակ ճանապարհի՝ Լաչինի միջանցքի արգելափակման, ինչպես նաև այնտեղ տեղակայված ռուս խաղաղապահների մասին:

Երեքշաբթի թենիսի միջազգային ֆեդերացիային ուղղված նամակում Ադրբեջանի թենիսի ֆեդերացիան պահանջել է Խաչանովին պատժել իր ուղերձի համար, սակայն Խաչանովն իր ուղերձներից ոչ մեկում չի հիշատակել Ադրբեջանը:
