ԱՄՆ-ի ցանկացած որոշում՝ Թուրքիային F-16 կործանիչների և արդիականացված սարքավորումների վաճառքը թույլ տալու վերաբերյալ, «տարակուսելի» կլինի՝ հաշվի առնելով Թուրքիայի նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի «ռազմական» դիրքորոշումը ՆԱՏՕ-ի դաշնակից Հունաստանի նկատմամբ, ասել է ամերիկացի սենատոր Բոբ Մենենդեսը:
Սենատի արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի նախագահը ևս մեկ անգամ կրկնել է, որ չի հավանություն տալու վաճառքին, գրում է ekathimerini.com-ը։
«Ես կցանկանայի, որ Թուրքիան տարբերվեր նրանից, ինչպիսին որ է նախագահ Էրդողանի օրոք. որպեսզի Թուրքիան լինի ՆԱՏՕ-ի հուսալի դաշնակից, հետևի միջազգային նորմերին, չլինի ռազմատենչ իր հարևանների նկատմամբ… Հենց այդ համատեքստում ես դեմ եմ եղել F-16-ների վաճառքին, քանի որ, ի վերջո, իրականությունն այն է, որ մենք Էրդողանի օրոք չենք տեսել Թուրքիա, որն արդարացնի այդ սպասումները»,- ասել է Մենենդեսը հարցազրույցում։
«Այն, ինչ մենք տեսնում ենք, Թուրքիան է, որը սպառնում է ՆԱՏՕ-ի մեկ այլ դաշնակցի՝ Հունաստանի Հանրապետությանը, և նա նրան սպառնում է առանց հիմնավորման, առանց պատճառի։ Ուստի, իմ կարծիքով, տարակուսելի կլիներ Թուրքիային զինտեխնիկա վաճառել, երբ նա նման գործողություններ է իրականացնում, և երբ նա պարբերաբար հստակորեն հայտարարում է որոշ մտադրությունների մասին: Միգուցե Բայդենի վարչակազմը կօգտագործի վաճառքի իմ արգելափակումը՝ որպես Թուրքիային այլ կերպ գործելու միջոց: Եթե դա տեղի ունենա, դա կարող է դրական լինել»,- ասել է Մենենդեսը:
Միևնույն ժամանակ նա քննադատել է ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության դիրքորոշումը՝ ասելով հետևյալը. «Չես կարող երկու կողմին կոչ անել զսպել իրենց խոսքերը կամ գտնել տարաձայնությունները խաղաղ ճանապարհով լուծելու ճանապարհ, երբ կողմերից մեկն ակնհայտ ռազմատենչ է»:
«Ինձ թվում է նաև, որ ԱՄՆ-ի տեսանկյունից, երբ դու ունես ՆԱՏՕ-ի երկու դաշնակից, որոնցից մեկն ագրեսորն է, ապա Միացյալ Նահանգները պետք է կանգնի այն երկրի կողքին, որը տուժել է: Բացի այդ, ՆԱՏՕ-ն պետք է քննարկի, թե ինչ կլինի, եթե մի օր, Աստված մի արասցե, ՆԱՏՕ-ի դաշնակիցներից մեկը հարձակվի մյուսի վրա՝ առանց սադրանքի։ Ինձ թվում է, որ ագրեսորը պետք է պատժվի», -եզրափակել է քաղաքական գործիչը։
