Երուսաղեմի հայկական թաղամասում հինգ տարի տևած վերակառուցումից հետո իր դռներն է վերաբացել Հայաստանի պատմության թանգարանը:

Այս մասին  հայտնում է The Times Of Israel-ը։
 
Տնօրեն Ցողիկ Կարակաշյանը նշել է, որ թանգարանը նախատեսված է ծառայելու որպես «հայերի կյանքի ուղեցույց»։
 
Մինչ վերակառուցումը թանգարանի շենքը, որն ի սկզբանե եղել է 1850-ականներին կառուցված ուխտավորների պանսիոնատ, ծառայել է որպես վանք, մանկատուն ցեղասպանությունից փրկված երեխաների համար, սեմինարիա և, վերջապես, փոքրիկ թանգարան և գրադարան։
 
Թանգարանի կենտրոնական ցուցանմուշը 5-րդ կամ 6-րդ դարերի խճանկարն է՝ զարդարված էկզոտիկ թռչուններով և խաղողի որթերով: Հայտնաբերվել է 1894 թվականին հին հայկական վանական համալիրի տարածքում։ Այն ունի հայերեն մակագրություն՝ նվիրված «բոլոր հայերի հիշատակին և փրկությանը, որոնց անունները Տերը գիտի»։
 
«Մենք ողջ մնացինք, քանի որ մարդիկ գիտեին, թե ով ենք մենք, և այսօր մենք պատրաստ ենք պատմել պատմության և ժառանգության, մշակույթի, ինչպես նաև մեր զարգացման և կատարելագործման մասին»,- ասել է թանգարանի էքսկուրսավար Արեգ Կախքեջյանը: Թանգարանը ցուցադրում է հայկական նյութական արվեստը, ինչպես նաև պատմում է տարածաշրջանում գոյատևման հայկական պատմությունը:
 
Երուսաղեմում ապրում է մոտ 6000 հայ, որոնցից շատերը ցեղասպանությունից մազապուրծ եղած մարդկանց ժառանգներ են։ Բայց հայերի կապը սուրբ քաղաքի հետ գալիս է դարերի խորքից՝ ուշ Հռոմեական կայսրության ժամանակ վանականներից ու ուխտավորներից մինչև Երուսաղեմի հայ թագուհիները։
