Ադրբեջանն առանձնահատուկ նշանակություն ունի Իրանի Իսլամական Հանրապետության համար։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է Իրանի խորհրդարանի նախագահ Մոհամմադ Բաղեր Ղալիբաֆը իր ադրբեջանցի գործընկեր Սահիբա Գաֆարովայի հետ հանդիպման ժամանակ, գրում է իրանական Mehr լրատվական գործակալությունը։

«Այսօր երկու երկրները ձգտում են զարգացնել եւ խորացնել հարաբերությունները, եւ ես վստահ եմ, որ երկու երկրների պաշտոնյաները մեծ ցանկություն ունեն զարգացնել հարաբերությունները»,- ասել է նա՝ ընդգծելով․ «Մենք կարող ենք լավ հարաբերություններ ունենալ միմյանց հետ տարածաշրջանային եւ համաշխարհային ասպարեզում, եւ որքան մոտ լինեն տարածաշրջանի երկրները, այնքան լավ տարածաշրջանի համար, եւ ոչ տարածաշրջանային երկրները չպետք է միջամտեն այս հարցում»:

«Մենք չենք ընդունում սահմանների աշխարհաքաղաքական փոփոխությունները (կովկասյան տարածաշրջանում)»,- ասել է նա՝ հավելելով, որ Թեհրանը «հստակ դիրքորոշում ունի Ադրբեջանի հետ հարաբերությունների զարգացման հարցում, եւ մենք պատրաստ ենք զարգացնել առեւտրային եւ տարանցիկ փոխանակումները»։

Գաֆարովան, իր հերթին, ասել է, որ երկու երկրներին միավորում է ոչ միայն աշխարհագրությունը եւ սահմանների մոտ լինելը, «մենք մուսուլման ենք, եւ Իրանի բնակչության մեծ մասը խոսում է ադրբեջաներեն»։

«Երկու երկրների միջեւ համագործակցության շատ ոլորտներ կան, սակայն կան տարբեր խնդիրներ, որոնք ազդում են Իրանի եւ Ադրբեջանի հարաբերությունների վրա։ Մենք աջակցում ենք խաղաղությանն ու անվտանգությանը եւ ցանկանում ենք, որ տարածաշրջանում կայունություն լինի», - եզրափակել է նա:
