ՆԱՏՕ-ի ղեկավարը մտահոգություն է հայտնել, որ Ուկրաինայում մարտերը կարող են դուրս գալ վերահսկողությունից և վերածվել Ռուսաստանի և ՆԱՏՕ-ի միջև պատերազմի:

Նորվեգիայի նախկին վարչապետ Ստոլտենբերգը հարցազրույցում ասել է, որ «կասկած չկա, որ լիարժեք պատերազմը հնարավոր է»՝ հավելելով, որ կարևոր է խուսափել հակամարտությունից, «որը ներգրավում է ավելի շատ երկրներ Եվրոպայում և դառնում լիարժեք պատերազմ Եվրոպայում»:
Կրեմլը բազմիցս մեղադրել է ՆԱՏՕ-ի դաշնակիցներին այն բանի համար, որ դրանք դարձել են հակամարտության կողմ՝ Ուկրաինային զենք տրամադրելով, նրա զորքերին մարզելով և ռազմական հետախուզություն տրամադրելով ռուսական ուժերի վրա հարձակվելու համար:
