Ամերիկյան F-16 կործանիչները չպետք է վաճառվեն Թուրքիային։ Այս մասին հայտարարել է ամերիկացի կոնգրեսական Ֆրենկ Փալոնը՝ դատապարտելով թուրքական զինուժի հարվածները Սիրիայի և Իրաքի հյուսիսային հատվածներին:
«Էրդողանը ռմբակոծել է քաղաքացիական ենթակառուցվածքներ, այդ թվում՝ հիվանդանոց: Ահա ևս մեկ պատճառ, որ ես աշխատում եմ արգելափակել F-16 կործանիչների վաճառքը Թուրքիային։ Էրդողանի ագրեսիայի օրինակները ցույց են տալիս, որ մենք չենք կարող նրան վստահել ամերիկյան ռազմական տեխնիկան», - «Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ «Թվիթեր»-ի իր էջում գրել է Փալոնը։
Նոյեմբերի 20-ին Թուրքիան ավիահարվածներ է հասցրել Սիրիայի և Իրաքի հյուսիսային հատվածներում գտնվող քրդական տասնյակ թիրախների։ Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը ռազմական գործողությունն անվանել է «Ճանկ-թուր»։
Ըստ The New York Times պարբերականի՝ Թուրքիայի պաշտպանության նախարար Հուլուսի Աքարը հայտնել է, որ Սիրիայի և Իրաքի հյուսիսում թուրքական զինուժը ոչնչացրել է 89 թիրախ, այդ թվում՝ «ահաբեկիչների ապաստարաններ, բունկերներ, քարանձավներ, թունելներ և պահեստներ»։
Նախնական տվյալներով՝ թուրքական ավիահարվածների հետևանքով երկու տասնյակից ավելի մարդ է մահացել։ «Սիրիայի դեմոկրատական ուժեր» խմբավորումը հայտնել է, որ հարվածների տակ է հայտնվել Քոբանի քաղաքը, զոհվել են քաղաքացիական անձինք։
Թուրքիայի իշխանությունները հայտարարել են, որ ռազմական գործողությունն իրականացվում է՝ ի պատասխան նախորդ շաբաթ Ստամբուլում տեղի ունեցած ահաբեկչության, որի հետևանքով 6 մարդ մահացել է, 80-ից ավելին՝ վիրավորվել։ Թուրքիայի իշխանությունները Ստամբուլում տեղի ունեցած պայթյունի մեջ մեղադրում են «Քրդական բանվորական կուսակցություն» կազմակերպությանը։ Սակայն կազմակերպությունը հերքել է իր առնչությունը պայթյունին՝ հայտարարելով, որ անմիջական հարվածներ չէր հասցնի քաղաքացիական անձանց։
