Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի նկատմամբ ԱՄՆ մտադրությունների վերաբեյալ շարունակվում է ապատեղեկատվություն տարածվել, այդ թվում՝ Մոսկվայից: Այս մասին ճեպազրույցի ժամանակ հայտարարել է ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության խոսնակ Նեդ Փրայսը, հավելել՝ Միացյալ Նահանգները երկու երկրների գործընկերն է տասնամյակներ շարունակ:
«Հարավային Կովկասի երեք երկրների, այդ թվում՝ Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի ինքնիշխանությանն ու անկախությանն ավելի շատ սատարող, քան ԱՄՆ-ն է, չկա: 1991 թվականին Խորհրդային Միությունից Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի անկախության վերականգնումը ճակատագրական իրադարձություն էր, որը երաշխավորեց այդ երկրներից յուրաքանչյուրին սեփական արտաքին քաղաքական շահերն ու ինքնիշխանությունը առաջ տանելու իրավունքը՝ անկախ Մոսկվայից կամ որևէ այլ երկրից»,- նշել է նա:
Նրա խոսքով՝ Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի հետ ԱՄՆ համագործակցության միակ նպատակն այն է, որ վերջ տրվի բռնությանը, և երկու երկրները կանգնեն «ամուր և համապարփակ խաղաղության ճանապարհին»։
«Մենք խրախուսել և հստակ ասել ենք Հայաստանին և Ադրբեջանին, որ նրանք պետք է հանդիպեն այն ձևաչափով, որն առավել օգտակար է նրանց համար։ Մենք իսկապես հավատում ենք խնդիրների լուծման և տևական խաղաղության հասնելու ուղղակի երկխոսության օգտակարությանը»,- ընդգծել է Փրայսը։
Նա հրաժարվել է մեկնաբանել Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև հարաբերությունների կարգավորման ուղղությամբ Ռուսաստանի միջնորդական ջանքերը:
«Կարծում եմ՝ աշխարհը գիտի Ռուսաստանի պատմությունը, երբ խոսքը վերաբերում է նրա հարևաններին և նրա շրջակայքին: Ռուսաստանի ներխուժումը Վրաստան 2008 թ. և շարունակվող դաժան ներխուժումը Ուկրաինա ցույց են տալիս, որ Մոսկվան քիչ է հարգում իր հարևանների ինքնիշխանությունը և դժվար թե հուսալի երկարաժամկետ գործընկեր լինի։ Մենք հավատում ենք, որ դա կտրուկ հակադրվում է Միացյալ Նահանգների քաղաքականությանը»,- նշել է խոսնակը:
