Սեպտեմբերի 12-ի լույս 13-ի գիշերը ադրբեջանական հարձակման հետեւանքով Վարդենիսի դիրքերից մեկում զոհվել է 36-ամյա պայմանագրային զինծառայող Լյովա Սահակյանը։
Պայմանագրային զինծառայողը Գեղարքունիքի մարզի Վարդենիս խոշորացված համայնքի Ծովակ գյուղից էր։ NEWS.am-ին հարազատներից մեկը պատմեց, որ Լյովա Սահակյանը ծառայության անցել էր 2019 թվականից. «7-8 ամիս ծառայելուց հետո իրեն բարձր գիտելիքների համար նախարարի հրամանով սպայի կոչում են շնորհել»։
Լյովա Սահակյանը ամուսնացած էր, ուներ երեք անչափահաս երեխա։
Երբ հակառակորդը սկսել է կրակել, 36-ամյա սպան զինվորներին թաքստոց մտնելու հրաման էր տվել, իսկ ինքը միայնակ պատասխան կրակ վարել. «Ըստ դատաբժշկի եզրակացության՝ 4 տեղից հրազենային վիրավորում է ստացել։ Երբ հակառակորդը սկսել էր կրակել, նա զինվորներին թաքստոց մտնելու հրաման էր տվել, իսկ ինքը մենակով մնացել էր հրետանու մոտ ու պատասխան կրակ էր վարում։ Նրա մոտ ստացվում է լռեցնել հակառակորդին, ինչից հետո անձնակազմը դուրս է գալիս թաքստոցներին եւ կարողանում են կրակ վարել։ Մարտի ընթացքում արկերն արդեն վերջանում էին, բայց նա ասում էր՝ ոչ մի վայրկյան դիրքս չեմ թողնելու, կկռվեմ մինչեւ վերջին շունչս»։
Հիշեցնենք, որ սեպտեմբերի 13-ին՝ ժամը 00:05-ից, Ադրբեջանի ԶՈՒ ստորաբաժանումները սահմանի ողջ երկայնքով հրետանային միջոցներից, խոշոր տրամաչափի հրաձգային զինատեսակներից սկսել էին ինտենսիվ կրակ վարել հայկական դիրքերի ուղղությամբ՝ կիրառելով նաեւ ԱԹՍ-ներ: Հակառակորդը հարվածում էր թե՛ ռազմական, թե՛ քաղաքացիական օբյեկտներին։
Պաշտպանության նախարարության հաղորդմամբ՝ սեպտեմբերի 14–ին, ժամը 20։00–ից բոլոր ուղղություններով կրակը գրեթե դադարել է։
Վերջին տվյալով՝ զոհվածների թիվը եւ անհետ կորածների թիվը գերազանցում է 210-ը։ Վիրավորվել է 293 զինծառայող եւ 8 խաղաղ բնակիչ։ Սեպտեմբերի 17-ին ադրբեջանական կողմը 32 զինծառայողի մարմին էր փոխանցել հայկական կողմին, սեպտեմբերի 20-ին՝ 95, իսկ սեպտեմբերի 23–ին՝ եւս 6 մարմին։ Գերեվարվել էր 20 զինծառայող։ Սեպտեմբերի 4–ին, ադրբեջանական կողմը ԱՄՆ միջնորդությամբ, հայկական կողմին է վերադարձրել 17 հայ ռազմագերիների։
