ԱՄՆ Պետդեպի խոսնակ Նեդ Փրայսը ճեպազրույցի ընթացքում լրագրողի խնդրանքով անդրադարձել է ՌԴ ԱԳՆ պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Մարիա Զախարովայի հայտարարության առ այն, որ «Արևմուտքը զբաղված է ինքնագովազդով և փորձում է Ռուսաստանին դուրս մղել տարածաշրջանից»:
«Նախ, մենք վիճարկում ենք մեր ջանքերի որպես ինքնագովազդ որակումը: Ոչ մի ինքնագովազդային բան չկա նրանում, որ փորձում ենք վերջ դնել տարիներ շարունակվող հակամարտություններին և տարիների բռնկումներին, որոնք հանգեցրել են բռնությունների և, ի վերջո, մահվան, ինչպես հայերի, այնպես էլ Ադրբեջանի քաղաքացիների շրջանում:
Այստեղ մեր միակ նպատակն է օգնել այս երկրներին աշխատել միասին՝ համապարփակ և տևական խաղաղություն հաստատելու և, ի վերջո, կյանքեր փրկելու համար: Ես չգիտեմ, թե դրա վերաբերյալ ինչը կարող է մեկնաբանվել որպես ինքնագովազդ:
Ինչպես ընդգծել է պետքարտուղարը, մենք հավատարիմ ենք Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև խաղաղ բանակցություններին։ Մենք երկու ղեկավարներին էլ խրախուսել ենք հանդիպել այն ձևաչափով, որն առավել օգտակար է նրանց համար: Մենք կարծում ենք, որ ուղղակի երկխոսությունը առանցքային է խնդիրների լուծման և կայուն խաղաղության հասնելու համար»,- ասել է Փրայսը:
Անդրադառնալով հոկտեմբերի 31-ին ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ նախատեսված հանդիպմանը՝ Պետդեպի ներկայացուցիչն ասել է.«Ի վերջո, Հայաստանը և Ադրբեջանը պետք է որոշեն, թե արդյոք նախագահ Պուտինի հրավերն օգտակար կամ պիտանի կլինի նրանց համար կայուն խաղաղության ձգտման հարցում: 2008 թվականին Ռուսաստանի ներխուժումը Վրաստան և նրա շարունակական դաժան ներխուժումը Ուկրաինա ցույց են տալիս, որ Մոսկվան քիչ է հարգում իր հարևանի ինքնիշխանությունը և դժվար թե հուսալի, երկարաժամկետ գործընկեր լինի: Բայց, ի վերջո, սա կլինի մի որոշում, որը պետք է կայացնեն Հայաստանն ու Ադրբեջանը։
Հարավային Կովկասի երկրների ինքնիշխանությանն ու անկախությանը, ի վերջո, ԱՄՆ-ից ավելի մեծ աջակցող չկա։ 1991 թվականին Խորհրդային Միությունից Հայաստանի, Ադրբեջանի և Վրաստանի անկախության վերականգնումը կարևոր իրադարձություն էր, որը երաշխավորեց այս երկրներից յուրաքանչյուրի իրավունքը՝ Մոսկվայից կամ որևէ այլ երկրից անկախ իր արտաքին քաղաքական շահերը հետապնդելու»։
