Մինչ Հայաստանում իշխանությունները դեռևս մտմտում են արդյոք արևային էներգիա օգտագործել, թե ոչ, կամ էլ չնչին գումարներ են տալիս արևային էներգիայի զարգացման գործին, բրիտանական գիտնականներն ավելի հեռուն են գնացել և արևային էներգիայի պահպանման հետաքրքիր ու մասշտաբային կոնցեպտ են մշակել՝ էներգիան առաջարկում են պահպանել հողի տակ։

Քարդիֆի համալսարանի դոկտոր Մայքլ Հարբոթլի խոսքով՝ գաղափարը կայանում է կանաչ էներգիայի պահպանման համար հատուկ մարտկոցների ստեղծման մեջ միկրոբների հիմքով, որոնք բնակվում են հողի տակ, այսինքն խթանել որոշակի միկրոօրգանիզմներ հողի մեջ՝ օգտագործելով հողանցված էլեկտրոդները, էլեկտրականությունը արևային մարտկոցներից ստանալու համար։

Հարբոթլը նշում է, թե նախագիծը կարող է մասշտաբային լինել, նա հավատում է, թե հարուստ բնական ռեսուրսը, հողը վերականգնվող էներգիայի պահպանման համար օգտագործելը պարզապես անհրաժեշտ է:

Հողի միջոցով էներգիայի փոխանցման գործընթացը ինչ-որ չափով նման է ֆոտոսինթեզի, երբ բույսերը կլանում են ածխաթթու գազը և այն վերածում թթվածնի։ Առայժմ հայտնի չէ, թե ինչպես են բրիտանացի գիտնականները մտադիր իրականացնել իրենց այս չափազանց հավակնոտ ծրագիրը, սակայն Քարդիֆի համալսարանը մտադիր է ահռելի տարածքներ գնել ոչ միայն Բրիտանիայում, այլ նաև աֆրիկյան Սահարայում, որպեսզի սկսի փորձարկումները և այդ կերպ մշակումներ իրականացնի։

Հայաստանում այս առումով իրավիճակը բարվոք չէ։ Մեր երկիրը չունի հողային այդպիսի մեծ ռեսուրսներ, թեև որոշակի տարածքներ հնարավոր է օգտագործել, եթե էներգիայի փոխանցումը չվնասի հողին և գյուղատնտեսությանը։

Թերևս վաղ է մեր երկրի մասին խոսել։ Մի երկիր, որտեղ կա արևային վահանակներ արտադրող ընդամենը մեկ ընկերություն՝ «Սոլարոնը», առայժմ նույնիսկ հնարավոր չէ խոսել արևային էներգիայի զանգվածային օգտագործման մասին, թեև դրա անհրաժեշտության մասին խոսում են բոլորը, մասնագետներից մինչև իշխանություններ, հասարակ սպառողներից մինչև գյուղացիներ՝ հաշվի առնելով արևային էներգիայի էժան և մաքուր լինելու հանգամանքը։
