Չինաստանի Ժողովրդական Հանրապետության Պետական ​​խորհրդի Թայվանի գործերի գրասենյակի խոսնակ Մա Սյաոգուանգը հայտնել է, որ Պեկինը նախազգուշացում է հղել Թայվանում իշխող Դեմոկրատական ​​առաջադիմական կուսակցությանը՝ կապված ամերիկացի քաղաքական գործիչների՝ կղզի այցելությունների ավելացման հետ, հայտնում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը։

Բլեքբերնը դարձավ ԱՄՆ երրորդ օրենսդիրը, ով այցելեց Թայվան՝ դե ֆակտո անկախ երկիր, վերջին մեկ ամսվա ընթացքում: ԱՄՆ Կոնգրեսի Ներկայացուցիչների պալատի առաջին խոսնակ Նենսի Փելոսին կղզի էր ժամանել օգոստոսի սկզբին։ Նրա այցը ծայրաստիճան բացասական արձագանք առաջացրեց Պեկինի կողմից, որը տարածաշրջանը համարում է Չինաստանի անբաժանելի մասը։ Ի պատասխան ԱՄՆ պատվիրակության այցի՝ Չինաստանը լայնածավալ զորավարժություններ սկսեց կղզու շուրջ, սակայն դա չխանգարեց ԱՄՆ քաղաքական գործիչների հետագա այցերին Թայբեյ։

Օգոստոսի 14-15-ը Մասաչուսեթսից դեմոկրատ սենատոր Էդ Մարկիի գլխավորած պատվիրակությունն այցելեց Թայբեյ։
