Մեծ Բրիտանիայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար, Պահպանողական կուսակցության ղեկավարի թեկնածու Լիզ Թրասը հայտարարել է, որ անհրաժեշտության դեպքում պատրաստ է միջուկային զենք կիրառել, եթե վարչապետ դառնա: Այդ մասին նա հայտարարել է Ռիշի Սունակի հետ նախընտրական բանավեճում, հաղորդում է The Telegraph-ը։

Հաղորդավարուհին հարցրել է Թրասին, թե ինչպես կվարվի, եթե միջուկային զենք օգտագործելու կարիք լինի որպես վարչապետ աշխատելու ժամանակ:

«Կարծում եմ՝ սա վարչապետի կարևոր պարտականությունն է, ես պատրաստ եմ դա անել»,- ասել է նա։

Պահպանողական կուսակցությունը նոր առաջնորդ է ընտրում վարչապետի պաշտոնից Բորիս Ջոնսոնի հրաժարականից հետո։ Կառավարությունը կղեկավարի կուսակցության առաջնորդը:

Մեկ շաբաթ առաջ քարոզարշավում Թրասը զգալիորեն առաջ էր անցել իր հակառակորդ Ռիշի Սունակայից. օգոստոսի 18-ին անցկացված հարցման արդյունքների համաձայն՝ Պահպանողական կուսակցության անդամների 66%-ը պատրաստվում էին աջակցել նրան, իսկ Սունակին՝ 34%-ը:

Վարչապետ Բորիս Ջոնսոնը հուլիսի սկզբին ստիպված եղավ հրաժարական տալ Պահպանողական կուսակցության ղեկավարի պաշտոնից՝ մի քանի ներքաղաքական սկանդալների և կուսակիցների կոչերի պատճառով։ Մինչ Թորիների նոր առաջնորդի ընտրությունը, Ջոնսոնը շարունակում է աշխատել որպես վարչապետ։
