Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Բորիս Ջոնսոնը, ինչպես և սպասվում էր, հայտարարել է հրաժարականի մասին՝ ընդգծելով, որ «քաղաքականության մեջ ոչ ոք անփոխարինելի չէ», հայտնում է Sky News-ը:
Ելույթ ունենալով Դաունինգ սթրիթից՝ նա շնորհակալություն է հայտնել միլիոնավոր մարդկանց, որոնք քվեարկել են իր օգտին և ասել, թե ինչու է այդքան երկար պայքարել պաշտոնում մնալու համար:
«Ես կարծում էի, որ դա իմ աշխատանքն է, իմ պարտականությունը և իմ պարտականությունը ձեր հանդեպ»,- ասել է Ջոնսոնը։
The Guardian-ը հավելում է, որ Ջոնսոնն իր ելույթում նշել է, որ կլինի նոր առաջնորդ (կուսակցության), նոր վարչապետ:
Նա նշել է, որ հպարտ է իր արած աշխատանքով՝ շեշտելով, որ «տխուր է աշխարհի լավագույն աշխատանքը թողնելու կապակցությամբ»:
Ավելի վաղ Sky News-ը հայտնել էր, որ Ջոնսոնը հրաժարականի դիմում է պատրաստում, սակայն կշարունակի վարչապետի պաշտոնում մնալ, քանի դեռ չի ընտրվել իշխող Պահպանողական կուսակցության նոր ղեկավարը։
Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Բորիս Ջոնսոնի կառավարությունից երեքշաբթի օրվանից առ այսօր հեռացել է արդեն 53 նախարար, քաղաքական գործիչ։ Ջոնսոնը երեկոյան հայտարարել էր, որ չի պատրաստվում հրաժարական տալ:
Նշենք, որ հրաժարականների զանգվածային ալիքի հիմքը դրել են Մեծ Բրիտանիայի ֆինանսների նախարար Ռիշի Սունակը և առողջապահության նախարար Սաջիդ Ջավիդը, որոնք հայտարարել էին, որ հրաժարական են տալիս վարչապետ Բորիս Ջոնսոնի նկատմամբ անվստահության և նրա ղեկավարման մեթոդների հետ անհամաձայնության պատճառով։ Հրաժարականները պայմանավորված են նախկին փոխարտգործնախարար Քրիստոֆեր Պինչերի նշանակման հետ կապված սկանդալի հետ:
Անցյալ շաբաթ հայտնի էր դարձել, որ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի նախկին փոխարտգործնախարար Քրիստոֆեր Պինչերը նախկինում լոնդոնյան ակումբներից մեկում հարբած վիճակում ծեծկռտուք էր կազմակերպել։ Մի շարք քաղաքական գործիչներ պնդում են, որ վարչապետ Բորիս Ջոնսոնը Պինչերին նշանակել է Պահպանողական կուսակցության խորհրդարանական խմբակցության փոխհամակարգողի պաշտոնում, թեև իմացել է նրա տխրահռչակ անցյալի մասին։
Ջոնսոնը ներողություն է խնդրել և խոստովանել, որ «հետ նայելով՝ գիտակցում է, որ սխալ բան է արել», այս հայտարարությանը հաջորդել են նախարարների և այլ պաշտոնյաների հրաժարականներ՝ վարչապետի նկատմամբ անվստահության պատճառով։
