Տարբեր զրույցների ժամանակ հաճախ ենք հանդիպում «կազուս» կամ «պատմական կազուս» ձևակերպումներին: Իրականում ի՞նչ է նշանակում և ի՞նչ իմաստով են աշխարհում, հատկապես միջազգային հարաբերություններում կիրառում այն: «Կազուս» բառացի նշանակում է դատական խճճված գործ: Խոսակցականում, սակայն, կիրառվում է նաև որպես արտասովոր դիպված, իրադարձություն:

Կազուս ֆեոդերիս արտահայտությունը նշանակում է իրադրություն, որի առաջացման դեպքում գործողության մեջ են դրվում պետությունների՝ դաշնակցային պայմանագրով փոխադարձ օգնություն ցույց տալու պարտավորությունները։ Միջազգային իրավունքը նախատեսում է պետությունների անհատական և կոլեկտիվ ինքնապաշտպանության իրավունք։ Պետությունները կոլեկտիվ ինքնապաշտպանությունը կարող են իրագործել առանց նախնական համաձայնագրի կամ դաշնակցային հատուկ պայմանագրի հիման վրա, որը, այլ պարտավորությունների թվում, նախատեսում է նաև Կազուս Ֆեոդերիս։ «Կազուս բելլի» բառացի նշանակում է պատերազմի առիթ:

Տերմին միջազգային իրավունքում գործածվում է 19-րդ դարի վերջերից։ Այն պատերազմ հայտարարելու անմիջական ձևական առիթ է։ Օրինակ, Առաջին համաշխարհային պատերազմի համար «Կազուս Բելլի» էր ավստրիական թագաժառանգ Ֆրանց Ֆերդինանդի սպանությունը։ Այս շարքում կարելի է ֆիքսել նաև ռուս-շվեդական պատերազմը, երբ 1788 թվականի ամռանը Շվեդիան դաշինք կնքեց Օսմանյան կայսրության հետ։ Շվեդիայի համար Ռուսաստանի դեմ պատերազմ սկսելու առիթ օգտագործվեց սահմանին արհեստականորեն ստեղծված միջադեպը։

Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմում սահմանային վեճը գերմանացիների համար առիթ հանդիսացավ 1939 թ-ին Լեհաստան ներխուժելու համար։ Այսպիսի օրինակ է նաև 2003-2011թթ. Իրաքի միջուկային զենք ունենալու մասին ԱՄՆ-ի պնդումը: 2008-օգոստոսի 7-ին Հարավօսեթական պատերազմի ժամանակ վրացիների կողմից Ցխինվալի մտնելը առիթ հանդիսացավ ռուսների համար ռազմական գործողություններին միջամտելու համար։ Ահա այսպիսի խճճված պատմություններ
