ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Ենս Ստոլտենբերգը դաշինքի անդամ պետություններին կոչ Է արել պատրաստ լինելու այն բանին, որ հարկ կլինի  երկարատեւ ժամանակ աջակցություն են ցույց տալու Ուկրաինային: Այդ հայտարարությամբ նա հանդես Է եկել մայիսի 26-ին իսպանական La Vanguardia թերթում հրապարակված հարցազրույցում, տեղեկացնում Է «Արմենպրես»-ը: «ՆԱՏՕ-ի առաջին խնդիրն Է օգնել Ուկրաինային,- նշել Է նա:- Պատերազմներն անկանխատեսելի են, եւ ոչ ոք չի կարող ասել, թե ինչպես եւ երբ կավարատվի սա, բայց մենք պետք Է պատրաստ լինենք պահպանելու մեր աջակցությունը երկարաժամկետ հեռանկարում»:

«Խոսքը վերաբերում Է ոչ միայն նոր հանդերձանքի առաքմանն, այլեւ մատակարարված նյութն աշխատանքային վիճակում պահելուն»,- ասել Է գլխավոր քարտուղարը: Նրա խոսքով՝ «ՆԱՏՕ-ի մյուս դերն Էսկալացիայի կանխումն Է»: «Եթե դա վերաճի (…) պատերազմի ՆԱՏՕ-ի եւ Ռուսաստանի միջեւ, այն շատ ավելի ավերածություններ եւ վնաս կբերի ամաբողջ Եվրոպային,- նախազգուշացրել Է նա:- Ուստի մենք պարտավոր ենք գործելու այն կերպ, որպեսզի չնպաստենք եւ չհանգեցնենք Էսկալացիայի:  Մենք պարզորոշ հասկանալ են տալիս, որ ՆԱՏՕ-ն աջակցում Է Ուկրաինային, բայց նա չի մասնակցում պատերազմին»:

«Ռուսաստանի ներխուժման սկզբից մենք դաշինքի արեւելքում զորքերի թվաքանակն ավելացրել ենք մինչեւ 40 հազար՝ ռազմածովային եւ ռազմաօդային զգալի ուժերի օժանդակությամբ հանդերձ,- ճշտել Է գլխավոր քարտուղարը:- Նապատակն այն չԷ, որպեսզի պատեկրազմ հրահրենք, այլ այն, որպեսզի կանխենք այն, պահպանեք խաղաղություն եւ խուսափենք Մոսկվայում խառնաշփոթությունից կամ չըմբռնումից բոլոր դաշնակիցներին պաշտպանելու՝ ՆԱՏՕ-ի պատրաստակամության վերաբերյալ», հաղորդել Է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:
