Ադրբեջանական կողմը մերժել է սահմանագծման ու սահմանազատման աշխատանքների վերաբերյալ հայկական կողմի առաջարկությունները, ավելին՝ Ադրբեջանի արտգործնախարարը հայտարարել է, որ Հայաստանը ո՛չ քաղաքական, ո՛չ բարոյական, ո՛չ որևէ այլ իրավունք չունի նախապայմաններ առաջ քաշելու, քանի որ, ըստ Բայրամովի, 30 տարի օկուպացրել է ադրբեջանական տարածքները: Հայաստանի Հանրապետության արտգործանախարարությունն էլ տարօրինակ է համարել Ադրբեջանի ԱԳ նախարարի հայտարարությունը:

Այս թեմայի մասին զրուցել ենք քաղաքագետ Էմիլ Օրդուխանյանի հետ։

Հարցին, թե այս պարագայում հնարավո՞ր է սահմանազատման գործընթացի մեկնարկը` քաղաքագետն ասաց. «Դեռ ամիսներ առաջ եմ ասել, որ սահմանազատումն ու սահմանագծումը կողմերը տարբեր կերպ են պատկերացնում և այդ հայտարարություններն ասածներիս ապացույցն են: Ըստ էության, ստացվում է, որ կողմերի միջև կոնսենսուս չի էլ կարող լինել, իհարկե դիվանագիտական իմաստով, առաջարկություններ անելը ցույց է տալիս, որ այս գործընթացում մենք որոշակի դերակատարություն ենք ստանձնում, այս իմաստով դրական կարելի է գնահատել այդ հանգամանքը: Ես կարծում եմ, որ սահմանագծում ու սահմանազատում չի կարող լինել մոտ ապագայում, որովհետև եթե մենք ուզում ենք, որ մեր առաջարկները հաշվի առնվեն, առնվազն պետք է փորձենք ուժերի հաշվեկշիռը վերականգնել, ու այս ժամանակը պետք է օգտագործենք հենց դրա համար, հակառակ դեպքում որքան էլ առաջարկներ լինեն, պարզ է, որ մերժվելու են, եթե դրանք Ադրբեջանի շահերի հաշվառումով չեն լինելու»:
