ԱՎԵՏԱՐԱՆՈՑ (Չանախչի), գյուղ Արցախի Հանրապետության Ասկերանի շրջանում, որը Նիկոլի և նրան կցված խունտայի շնորհիվ, ներկայումս ժամանակավորապես գտնվում է Ադրբեջանի «զինված ուժերի»վերահսկողության ներքո։
 
Գտնվում է Քիրս լեռան ստորոտում։ Գյուղի սահմանային գոտով հոսում է Վարանդա գետի վտակը։
Ավետարանոցն Արցախի ամենահին ու նշանավոր բնակավայրերից մեկն է, եղել է մելիքանիստ կենտրոն։ Առնվազն 17-րդ դարից այն հիշատակվում է որպես ավան, կամ գյուղաքաղաք, ինչը վկայում է նրա մելիքանիստ կենտրոն և խոշոր բնակավայր լինելը։ Գյուղի տարածքում տարիների ընթացքում հայտնաբերվել են մոտ 53 հուշարձան: Դրանք եղել են թե հին բնակատեղիներ, թե կիկլոպյան ամրոցներ, որոնք պատկանում են առնվազն մ.թ.ա. երկրորդից առաջին հազարամյակին։ Ավանը բավականին խիտ է եղել բնակեցված ինչի մասին վկայում են տարածքում հայտնաբերված գյուղատեղիները։
 
Ավետարանոցի շրջակայքի եկեղեցիները, մատուռները և շրջակա բնակավայրերի հուշարձանների ցանկը բավականին մեծ է, կան նաև շատ կամուրջներ, դրանցից ամենահայտնիներից է Հղցկոտի կամուրջը, որը գտնվում է Կուսանաց անապատի շրջակայքում և տանում է դեպի «Սանա եղցե» սրբավայրը, որտեղ կա 17-րդ դարի եկեղեցի և գերեզմանոց։
Գյուղի պատմության երկրորդ շրջանը կապված է Մելիք Շահնազարյաններիի հետ։ Ավետարանոցը, լինելով Վարանդայի մելիքանիստ կենտրոն, Մելիք Շահնազարյանների նստավայրը մեծ դեր է խաղացել ուշ միջնադարի Արցախի պատմության մեջ։
 
Ավետարանոցի կարևորագույն հուշարձաններից է Կուսանաց անապատը, որի ներկայիս շենքը կառուցվել է 1616 թվականին։ Եկեղեցուն կից կա գավիթ, որը համարվում է Մելիք Շահնազարյանների տոհմական տապանատունը։ Կուսանաց անապատը կապված է Գայանե և Հռիփսիմե կույսերի հետ, և 17-րդ դարին հիշվում է Հռիփսիմե մայրապետը։ Հենց Գայանեի ժամանակ էլ Ավետարանոցը դառնում է հայ գրչության կենտրոններից մեկը։ Մեզ է հասել Գայանեի ձեռքով գրչագրված երեք ձեռագիր, որը հավաստում է Րաֆֆին։
 
Ըստ ուսումնասիրողների՝ Ավետարանոցում եղել է 3 մելիքական ապարանք, որոնք ավիրվել են, մնացել են դրանց մնացորդները։ Կարևոր հուշարձաններից մեկը գյուղամիջյան 1651 թվականին կառուցված Սուրբ Աստվածածին եկեղեցին է, որը 17-րդ դարի Արցախյան ճարտարապետական դպրոցի հուշարձաններից է:
 
Գյուղի տները հիմնականում երկհարկանի էին, Շուշիի ազդեցությամբ այն բավականին բարեկարգ գյուղ էր դարձել։ Ըստ 1886 թվականի ընտանեկան ցուցակների բնակչության թիվը 1822 էր։ 1917 թվականին Անգլիական միսսիային Արցախի ազգային խորհրդի ներկայացված Արցախի բնակչության թվի ցուցակում Ավետարանոցն ուներ 1928 բնակիչ։ Խորհրդային տարիներին բնակչության թվի որոշակի նվազում է նկատվել։ 1994 թվականից հետո՝ 2010 թվականին՝ 1116 բնակիչ, իսկ 2015-ին՝ 1121 բնակիչ։ Այսինքն՝ բնակչությունը միշտ եղել է 1000-ից ավելի, եղել են տարիներ, որ այն եղել է 2000-ից ավել։
