2015թ-ի ընթացքում աշխարհում բազում արտաքին-քաղաքական կարևոր զարգացումներ տեղի ունեցան, որոնք իրենց ազդեցությունն ունեցան նաև Հայաստանի վրա: Սակայն Հայաստանի համար 2015թ-ը վճռորոշ էր հատկապես ԵՏՄ-ի անդամակցության առումով: 2015թ-ի հունվարին Հայաստանը դարձավ ԵՏՄ լիիրավ անդամ:

ԵՏՄ–ն որպես տարածաշրջանային տնտեսական ինտեգրման միջազգային կազմակերպություն հիմնադրվել է Եվրասիական տնտեսական ընկերակցության մաքսային միության հիման վրա՝ 2014 թվականի մայիսի 29-ի պայմանագրի ստորագրմամբ, որն ուժի մեջ է 2015 թվականի հունվարի 1-ից։ Այս կազմակերպությունը, որին անդամակցում են Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունը, Բելառուսի Հանրապետությունը, Ղազախստանի Հանրապետությունն ու Ռուսաստանի Դաշնությունը, ստեղծվել է ազգային տնտեսությունների բազմակողմանի արդիականացման, կոոպերացիայի, մրցունակության բարձրացման և անդամ պետությունների բնակչության կենսունակության բարձրացման համար կայուն պայմաններ ստեղծելու նպատակով:
ԵՏՄ-ի շրջանակում հիմնական խնդիրը ապրանքների, ծառայությունների, կապիտալի և աշխատուժի ազատ տեղաշարժն է, ինչպես նաև համակարգված, համաձայնեցված կամ միասնական քաղաքականության վարումը տնտեսության բնագավառում:
Որպես նորաստեղծ կազմակերպություն՝ ԵՏՄ-ն գտնվում է դեռևս ձևավորման փուլում և էֆեկտիվ գործունեության տեսանկյունից կանգնած է բազմաթիվ խնդիրների առաջ: Այս հանգամանքով պայմանավորված՝ տեսակետներ են հնչում, թե ԵՏՄ-ի գոյությունն անիմաստ է, եթե կազմակերպության շրջանակներում ընդհանուր տնտեսական դաշտն արդյունավետ չի գործում:
Հարկ է նշել, որ այս կարծիքներն անհիմն են, քանի որ տնտեսական ընդհանուր դաշտ ընդգրկող ցանկացած նորաստեղծ կառույց կամ կազմակերպություն իր ստեղծման պահից կանգնում է բազմաթիվ խնդիրների առաջ:
Օրինակ՝ Եվրոպական միությունը նախքան ներկայիս կառուցվածքին և արդյունավետությանը հասնելու համար հսկայական զարգացման ճանապարհ է անցել՝ հաղթահարելով բազմաթիվ խոչընդոտներ՝ Ածխի և պողպատի եվրոպական միավորման հիմնադրումից մինչև ԵՄ-ի վերջին ընդլայնման պրոցեսները: Այդպես էլ ԵՏՄ-ն կառուցվածքային ու գործունեության դաշտի արդյունավետության բարձրացման համար հսկայական ճանապարհ ունի անցնելու: Խնդիրն այլ է, որ ԵՏՄ-ի զարգացման և ընդլայնման ողջ գործընթացից Հայաստանը պետք է ստանա առավելագույն արդյունք: Իսկ սրա համար անհրաժեշտ է կազմակերպության շրջանակներում սերտորեն աշխատել գործընկերների հետ և առավելագույն չափով լինել նախաձեռնողական:
